I held off on announcing this due to the "jinx theory" - I didn't want to spill the beans before the beans were 100% confirmed to even be spillable.
On Friday, the business I've always wanted to work for in Knoxville offered me a job. I accepted it.
I will be moving back to Knoxville next week - leaving Flagstaff on the 17th or 18th, and arriving in Knoxville on the 19th. I will be at the Florida game on the 20th, and starting my job on the 22nd.
As many long-timers know, this has been a process about 9 months in the making. In December, I interviewed at this business and did not get it due to qualifications (in other words: my lack of them for that specific job). However, as long-timers know, my station here in Flagstaff shut down in August. Thusly, I was out of a job for the last month.
However, the business in Knoxville is under the same company as my former station, and I interviewed there 3 weeks ago while I was in town.
Finally - I reach that goal. I get to work at the business I've wanted to work at for over 4 years.
With this comes sadness, of course. I leave my best friend (ex-girlfriend) that I've seen on a day to day basis for 6+ years. We've been broken up for a year, but it was amazing how we were able to stay so close as friends and it wasn't weird. She is a great girl and I'm going to miss seeing her. I'll also rarely see our dog again (it's hers). Penny is like a child to me, as sad as it sounds. She was a blessing in our lives 3 years ago, and she's incredible.
I'm not very good with change, so this is going to be taxing. She and I have known this was coming for months, so it's not like this is shocking. She's going to be fine, I'm going to be fine. But this chapter is ending, and it makes be a bit emotional. She and I helped each other grow so much that I can't even begin to wonder where I'd be without the lessons I learned from her and her family.
But here's to the future - I'll be back to a place I love in less than 2 weeks.
Lastly, I make a call to my Vol family for help. If you are a local business owner, or are close friends with a local business owner, please shoot me a private message. It will help immensely.
