Like everyone else I've been reading and watching everything I can about this years VOLS just waiting for the season to begin. The biggest thing I have seen in the highlight videos are some of the best and exciting plays came in games they eventually lost. Examples, the way Dobbs and Hurd ran over and around the Gators, 17 point lead against OK, 14 point lead over Arky the TD drive against Bama with 5 minutes left. Even in the Georgia game down 17 points there was a fumble at the goal line and a punt return that made it look so bad.

Watching these videos got me to thinking that last years team was a lot better than I thought. The 25 points were there. Examples, TE drops what could have been sure TD, 3 terrible penalty's on 3rd down against OK, one player blocks 3 Vols against Gators, Arky OL line wore Vols defense, same could be said about Bama's OL.

My thoughts are the offense doesn't have to be a lot better just a little more than 35 points a game avg. With all the starters and back ups on defense being able to spell the starters and the "I've never seen a blitz I didn't like" DC this will be a year we've dreamed about since 99.

Your thoughts please. GBO

I agree with your assessment. But we could have easily lost that UGA game. And most don't remember (or talk about it) but if the Cocks don't fumble down the stretch, who knows...

My point is - yes, we could have won more games but in the end, and IMHO, the W/L record was a pretty good reflection of team 119. Oh so close but still needing some growing and learning. 2016 has no doubt brought those pieces!
