Combine Vols 2018?

None.

Our 2017 draft class is a generational group. Highly unlikely we see that again.

Of the guys coming out next year, Wolf and Kirkland have the most potential. They look like future pro-bowlers. Not hall of famers.

Wolf looks nothing like a NFL player much less a pro bowler. He must increase his speed and agility and improve his ball catching as well. He runs a nice seam route, but that is about it.
Kirkland has a great deal of potential. He is too lean for ILB in the NFL currently, but hopefully he will add some muscle and be a bright spot for us next year.

Martin and Moseley will never make a NFL roster. It wouldn't surprise me to see Kirkland declare after this season if he stays healthy and has a good one.

Can someone explain to me the infatuation with Kirkland? It seems like he is the only player on the team that gets a pass on piss poor play on this entire message board. He hasn't shown me squat.

Heard that Thomas would have a top3 Vertical, Broad, and shuttle time at the last 3 combines.

Completely agree. I don't see how KMac has been such a bust so far.

Former #1 player in the country according to Scout, #6 according 247, can't crack starting lineup after 2 seasons at thin position of need behind two average DTs......2 solo tackles, .5 TFL, 0 sacks in 7 games last year. Already discussion of him not being athletic enough to play DT and maybe needing to shift over to OL.

I don't have the exact, technical definition of "bust", but that's gotta be about as close as one can get.

All that said, Reggie White wasn't "Reggie White" until his senior season. Hopefully KMac follows White's career path at Tennessee and blows up the latter part of his Vol career.

Player development just isn't good enough. Hope they turn it around this year.

OL and DB was the most obvious areas of need. Both coaches let go, and replacements made. Everyone wanted a dedicated QB coach, we got one. Some felt we needed new guys with DL and WR, that happened.

I think it is beyond just hoping. Now that a new AD is in place? Player development needs to kick into overdrive and the ill timed cliches need to be left in the recycle bins.

1 technique DT is not really a position where you can judge a player by stats. Its mostly about taking up 2 blockers in the run game to free up linebackers to make tackles and about pushing the pocket from the middle in the pass game so that the edge guys can get sacks. 1 technique DT in a 4-3 scheme will rarely put up big time numbers. Its a position you can only really evaluate from watching tape.

I thought Khalil played well last year. He's not been as elite as we would have liked but he's been far from a bust. Just look at how terrible our run defense became once he was lost for the season after the A&M game. Sure we also lost 2 other DTs but that there should show you their value.

And FYI Kendall Vickers is not average. He's a starting caliber NFL DT. He took his game to another level last year. And Danny O'Brien was playing even better than him last year before being dismissed. I wouldn't he surprised to see O'Brien make a NFL roster this fall. And I think Vickers will be picked next year in the 2018 NFL Draft.

I mean freshman All SEC sure gets you some love

Last year was forgettable, but I think that's reasonable considering he missed half the season. Even when he played at the end, I think we wasn't 100% until the bowl game
