I've been one of the harshest critics of Colton Jumper. Like many I didn't think he deserved to start after DKjr went down. I was in the camp of give anyone else a shot but him. I'm happy to see him prove me wrong. The kid has been nothing short of phenomenal the last 3 weeks.

In fact he's been so good that I think once Kirkland gets healthy, we should think about moving DKjr to JRM's old position as the weakside linebacker. Kirkland's speed and athleticism is actually more suited to outside linebacker than middle linebacker. He would be phenomenal at that position. Especially now that it looks like we'll be without JRM for the rest of the season.

I know this sounds crazy but Colton Jumper is playing too good to get off the field right now and he's been better than Cortez McDowell so far. I personally feel alot better with DKjr and Jumper out there at linebacker than DKjr and Cortez.

Jumper is way better than last year. So are Foreman & EM. Proud of all three for making huge strides this year. I didn't believe either of the three were SEC players. All three proved me wrong. They've been critical to our success this year. Great job by all three young men.

Agree but kinda like the Hurd/Kamara situation with Hurd returning this week . Hope Cortez is OK though after being taken to locker room last week .

Jumper has improved to the point where we don't just assume that every blown assignment is his, but he still has some key misses (see T. Williams short TD run last week for example). He hasn't become an all-SEC LB all of a sudden. For a team as beaten up by injuries as we are, he is serviceable, but that is about as far as I'm willing to take the hyperbole.

I thought this op had left town? Jumper has become serviceable and I appreciate his effort, but no way is he an SEC linebacker.

I trust the coaches on who plays. Starting is not a big deal because everyone will play to stay as fresh as possible. I'm appreciating our depth.

This is the 1st year that I feel the next man up really means something, players are developing themselves as starters and we are playing more players thru out the game...building depth is not a bad thing in the SEC

Kudos to Jumper

He has earned the trust to play but it would be hard to give him Kirkland's spot even if moving Kirkland to another spot. Kirkland is our best MLB.

Any team that has a TE who is athletic exposes Colton. He's earned time but DKJ is the starter.

Jumper is much improved and playing well.

What makes you think Hurd returns this week? I am not so sure.

I love Cortez but typically like JRM the outside LB is your leading tackler. Think Jumper has been the leading tackler every game except one where he was 2nd to TKjr. I heard radio show this AM talking about moving Kirkland to JRM's spot.

If Kirkland is 100% healthy you start him no doubt.

Honestly though I'm not sure if you wouldn't just bump Jumper to the outside (or bump Kirkland to the outside).

Either way if Kirkland is 100% healthy I think Kirkland AND Jumper should be on the field as Jumper has turned things around and proven he's our second best (available) linebacker.

I've been impressed with Jumper. That open field tackle he had Saturday was perfect. He showed good form and didn't get broke down and made the tackle. I thought for sure he would get beat but he played it perfectly.

That being said, Kirkland should start if he's healthy. Jumper is good but not as good Kirkland.

If Kirkland is 80% you gotta play him this week. Jumper has played admirably but Kirkland is an all-sec type LB.

Colton has improved and is playing well. However, the minute that DKJr is healthy he takes his spot back. Perhaps, given our mess at linebacker in general, we get both on the field at once. Just no way DKJr doesn't play if he's healthy.
