Colton Hood Entering the Draft

Ohio State is the last school to have 2 corners drafted in the first round in the same year in 2020 (Jeff Okudah and Damon Arnette).

Would be a huge 🪶 in our cap on the recruiting trail to show if you come to Tennessee, you can be successful on the defensive side of the 🏈

To your point, we don’t have Hood if McCoy was 💯 percent. Definitely odd situation to say the least.
And it seems the majority of the board wants the DB coach fired.

Annoying for me.
How good would we have been if Banks had Hood and McCoy and actually was competent in recruiting safety….ah forget it.

I’m so sick of being a staggered football team.
Great offense average defense

Yeah it’s tough not to think what if? All three phases have to play complimentary 🏈 which we haven’t had under Heupel all at the same time.

It’s never going to be perfect but hopefully we can have a competent/really good defense that can supplement an 🧨 offense and a special teams that gives us an advantage and is a difference maker in tight ballgames.

I think there’s some small technique stuff our DBs can be better at but you can say that about any position group. Hopefully Martinez’ position group can work well with Knowles.

Knowles is a solid DC and has been elite at multiple stops. Hopefully the scheme can be implemented to accentuate players strengths so we can play fast and free but also disciplined.

I selfishly wish that McCoy and Hood get 3rd rnd just so they can come back and play one more year.

With Redmond and Gibson rotating in…

There’s not a better starting 4 in college football.
And yes I think all of them are considered starters.

Just ONCE i wish things would line up for Tennessee.

I really want to throw Poteat out in the fire. Roll with the true freshmen duo of Redmond and Poteat against Illinois. Starting William Wright does nothing for the future. How Poteat plays would go a long way in showing Jim Knowles how to attack the portal.

Not unexpected but creates real concern for what kind of D are we left with for the Bowl game now with all these opouts. Illinois has a good passing game so looks like another shoot out game where our O has to make up for our D again.

just once I want us to have two CB's and a safety that can wreak havoc. Goodness, had we Hood and Mccoy, and a have way defent safety.
What could’ve been this yr … injuries. 🤦‍♂️

Plus, we had the kid (whose name escapes me) hit the portal in the offseason.

Win by 1 or 40, a win is win.

Start fresh afterwards on a good note

Banks would’ve still been calling the defense. Is what it is.

Eh. Easy come, easy go. I don't really have a strong reaction either way to the news. I'm glad he was there, sure, but he's gone about as soon as he showed up, so. That's the game now.

I do wonder if Redmond will come back to the table a la Gibson and put a little squeeze on UT for more money at some point before the spring. He was already in a position to push for more money, and with Hood and McCoy gone, stands to reason his hand is even stronger now. As with every other situation where Tennessee is facing a price hike, I hope it doesn't hamstring UT's ability to make whatever other moves it needs to during the offseason.
Not sure how players can do the money squeeze in spring since there is only a single portal window now? Guess they can decide to transfer but they won’t be eligible for a year if I understand correctly.
