1.) How early should I get there to park at State St. and then walk?

2.) I have no one to go with. I will be alone, what should I bring? I have 1 friend on campus, but they are flaky.

3.) Is it worth it for me to bring a sign if I don’t have anywhere to put it after?

Last time I was at College Gameday I was about 12 years old! I want to be there early, but not too early!!

Welcome to VolNation and what a weekend coming up! If you're going to the game, don't forget to check which color to wear for your section, drink plenty of Tennessee whiskey, and yell/scream till you have no voice.

1- Don't take this as gold, but from my past experience going to Gameday in Knoxville, I'd suggest trying to arrive at the set 2 hours before air time (9am) if you want a decent spot. Ayres Hall is about a 25 minute walk from State Street Garage, so I'd try to be parking around 6:30 am, to arrive around 7:00am.

2 - For Gameday, I'd suggest bringing a bottle of water and maybe a snack, just in case. If you're friendly and minimally social, should be able to find ample people willing to let you join in on their tailgates. Never hurts to offer a bottle of some Tennessee whiskey.

3 - Absolutely worth it, so long as you don't want to keep it forever. There'll be ample places to toss it afterwards.

Any other questions, glad to give my input. Be loud and give the Dawgs hell.

Go Big Orange!

I am a big fan of State Street Garage. It is a little bit of a walk but it is a pleasant one. It is really easy to get out after the game. You just jump right on James White and get out of there. I made the mistake once parking in a parking garage on campus and it literally took 2 hours to get out after the game.

I parked at the Locust Street parking garage for the Bama game in 2022. Took me about 2 hours to get out.

Anyone here who was at the first one the first time they came to UT (I think it was the first one)? It was UGA in '95 IIRC and they jammed us into basically the ramp onto Thompson Boiling Arena facing Neyland. It was an amazing time to be a student.

yes please, be loud, be real loud, the whole game.
I wondered what would game day crew do, if the crowd behind them was quite as a mouse holding signs, "we're saving our voice for the game" LOL

Agree with the list, an alternative is to swap the water out for vodka and you will not be detected.

@kal the key is the more alcohol you bring, the more friends you will make that morning. Donuts won’t hurt.
