I love that these new guys understand the culture. That they know what they are coming to and what the guys that are there have built. They understand that they have to buy into the past to build the future. Kirby is working with the freshmen and he says they are a group of guys who watched and want to continue what is but also understanding what needs to happen to do that.

Holy mother of god. That is a HEFTY price tag for a 17th-rounder lol. The Orioles must really believe in his tools to pay that much money. He certainly didn’t show it on the field this year.
If it's a bad move, it won't be the Orioles first one, but it'll be the first one in a few years. That's a ton of money for a 17th rounder. But then the O's have been saving their money for a while. They're apparently believinng he's the SS of 21, not 22. Elias has been right so far. We'll see.

Had the same thought. They could've gotten him to sign for a lot less than that, given how little he produced, IMO.

True. But, apparently they are not signing their 3rd round pick, so they are shifting that money to Young to seal the deal, which I guess makes sense.

With Dylan Tebrake (8th round), Carter Young (17th round) and Jack Pinetta (12th round) signing MLB contracts, LSU's impressive portal haul has lost some of its luster. Still impressive with Tommy White and Paul Skenes being big wins. However, Thatcher Hurd's status after a significant back injury could be a key to LSU's success.

Yet, with Griffin Merrit (AAC player of the year) choosing Tennessee, our portal recruiting is also very impressive. Coach Vitello has once again magically found a sweet spot. Maui Ahuna, Zane Denton and Griffin Merritt are all potentially day-one starters that add maturity and tremendous depth.
