Been Tennessee fan a long time. Brown and Oku running styles remind me of Reggie Cobb and Chuck Webb. One of the best combination of running styles in Tennessee history in my opinion. What do you think?

I watched several tapes of their high school games. I know they are high school but you can see there running style.

These guys have a long way to go to match Cobb-Webb.

Just from memory (Cobb-Webb has been awhile) I wouldn't think Oku would be that close a match. He seems a little more "jitterbuggy" (from what I understand) than I remember Reggie or Chuck being.

Having thought about it, based entirely on what I perceive as Oku's strengths, I would think his skill set would make him more of a Charlie Garner type. Hardly a bad thing.

Chuck Webb had the ability to change directions at full speed better than any running back I have seen. Watching Oku tapes, he has that same ability. He changes direction without losing any speed. Chuck Webb was one of the most electrifying runners I ever seen, of course until he blew his knee out.

With all due respect to Webb (and he's due LOTS) it's hard to imagine you ever saw Barry Sanders play and make that statement.

For those of us who watched Chuck Webb run wild over Ole Miss and Arkansas in 1989, we know true greatness………John Ward has said multiple times that Chuck Webb was the most talented running back he ever saw at Tennessee. And you do not ***k with John Ward. You will end up sleeping with the fishes at the bottom of Lake Loudon.

This is Volnation. Barry Sanders was awesome but this thread is about comparisions to other Tennessee Great Backs

Your original statement was that "you had ever seen". There's nothing there that would allow anyone to assume you only meant Vols, even on a Vol board. Not being argumentative but surely you see where I'm coming from on this.

I'm old enough to have seen Webb and yeah, he was REALLY good. I honestly think Garner and Tony Thompson (perhaps some others) were more elusive while Graham and Morgan had similar speed but nobody had the whole package like Webb. It's not that you can't cherry pick others to compare to Webb in any given trait...you can. It's that nobody, with the possible exception of Lewis, really compares to Webb in ALL those traits.

Trust me friend, you'll never have to defend Webb as a great RB with me.

IMO the combo of Brown & Oku have the potential to become the best RB 1-2 punch in College Football by their Junior years. I can see them becoming something like R. Brown & C. Williams were @ Auburn, they have that kind of potential. Now if they reach that potential is yet to be seen.

No way that Tony Thompson could compare to Webb in elusiveness. Garner...I'll give you.

I think that's the best comparision i've heard a/b the combo. Both Cadillac & Brown could run outside or inside, and Oku/Brown can do both.

He wasn't all that big nor especially fast but still mangaged the #6 yardage total in Vol history. The guy could make people miss.

It's also amazing what putting Charles McRae and Antone Davis in front of a RB will do for their effectiveness.
