Coaching ability at Tennessee

EZE, please explain to me what coaches would possibly be available at ANY cost that would fit into the category of the three coaches you mention. You through out three "superstar" coaches as your example of the type we should be going for. Create a legitimate context and maybe someone could follow your posts.

They WEREN’T Superstars when they were first hired into the SEC.

But, guys LIKE Matt Campbell, Doc Holliday, etc. have similar resumes as a pre-SEC Saban or Miles. Those are the TYPE of coaches I would be looking at...coaches who have done more with less at their current schools. If you can win with lesser talent, you should be able to win with better talent.

AND, to be clear, I’M NOT NECESSARILY ADVOCATING THOSE TWO COACHES. They are examples.

Lane was immature before he he got here and was immature here...

Dooley couldn't coach before here and couldnt coach here...

Butch was thin skinned and only had success riding coat tails before he got here and was thin skinned here...

Pruitt had no HC experience before he got here and has struggled to be a HC when he got here...
Sad that we’ve been through 4 coaches since 2009. Unbelievable actually

I’m sure pruitt is great at implementing Saban’s defense but it was Saban’s defense when he was at Bama. Does anyone really believe Saban wasn’t involved in that defense and preparation? Now that pruitt is here with less talent and without saban over him, our defense hasn’t been as good as some would imagine.

Our offense hasn’t really looked like an offense coached by Chaney as well which begs the question is Pruitt allowing him to run his system without interference?

Exactly. None of these coaches was a great hire. Dooley was the worst, didn't even have a winning record as HC. I still scratch my head over that one. We rolled the dice on Pruitt, and while it's not over yet, it's looking more like snake eyes every day.

Urban Meyer was asked what was wrong with the Michigan team that lost 49-11 last wwek. "On a TV set thousands of miles away from Ann Arbor, former Ohio State coach and current Fox college football analyst Urban Meyer advised that a coach of a struggling team should assume its problems are caused by one of three phenomena: Trust issues among players, selfishness that undermines a collective effort or a dysfunctional environment that spawns entitlement instead of hard work."
