TENNESSEE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Football

1. Head Coach Derek Dooley
2. Offensive Coordinator /Tight Ends Jim Chaney
3. Defensive Coordinator ????
4. Terry Joseph was DB coach and Recruiting Coord at La Tech
5. Willie Mack Garza Defensive Backs
6. Lance Thompson Linebackers
7. Quarterbacks Coach ????
8. Offensive Line Coach ????
9. Eric Russell was special teams coach at Texas Tech
10. Defensive Line Coach ????
2 GAs, I do not know anything about what they are doing other than I hope we keep Inky J.

Will anyone get the coveted Assistant Head Coach designation?

Who will be the recruiting coordinator?

We have 4 slots left. Who would you like to see?

I would like McNair from USC as RB coach. One final shot at Lane.

I would also like Eddie Gran as RB/Recruiting coordinator while I am dreaming.

Rodney Garner is currently Associate Head Coach, Recruiting Coordinator and DL coach at UGA.

I would like Art Kehoe as Offensive Line Coach.

I would like Trooper Taylor as WR coach. No way we get all of the above, but I am throwing out guys I like a lot. I would also love Stan Hixson Stan Hixon
and we could have a shot if he is terminated and like Kippy already has a pension.

Travis Jones from the Saints would be a great D Line coach although I have no idea why he would leave.

S&C I am very glad that Aaron Ausmus is staying.

Who do you want?

Ha ha. I clicked on this thinking that some football coach was mocking our remaining recruiting class.

This is actually my first post. Before anyone bites my head off let me first of all say that I'm very excited about DD as UT's coach so this is not meant to be critical. I'm worried that we are running out of coaching spots. We have Chaney who could be used to coach Qbs or the OL coaching TE's and we're short 4 offensive position coaches. We also don't have a D coordinator (or at least havent named one yet). We have a guy that while he is rumored to be EXTREMELY good, apparently only coaches ST's. And we currently have two DB coaches. I have faith in DD and I'm sure that he has a plan, it just concerns me slightly.

What about the guy from Ok State as WR coach? I think Spangler from LA Tech is being considered for DC.

Kehoe was a bit premature, but it looks as though Dooley might bring in Stacy Searles, UGA OL coach.

What would be the reason?

His fate will ultimately be decided by the DC. WMG knows the situation. He's in limbo. The DC may have ideas on who he wants to bring in other than Thompson and Joseph. We've already hired a secondary coach.

What about Gunter Brewer as the WR coach? He is no longer listed as the OK State co OC/WR coach. Chaney can coach OL, QB, TE and be the OC. Dooley can coach TE as well.

Can WMG coach any other positions? He is recruiting several guys from Texas. Losing him could hurt. I think Spangler from LA Tech could coach DL or be the DC.

Lance Thompson isn't a DC..... I mean get real people. We have to get a great DC to compete in this leauge. Lance thompson isn't it. He is a hell of a recruiter and a valuable member of this staff. But he isn't a DC...

The only names of real DC's I have heard are Kirby Smart (Which I can't see him leaving because he is one more good year away from a HC job of his own), and Kevin Steele....

We need a proven cordinator. I would like to see them throw the bank at Bud Foster or Carl Pelini. I know both are beyond long shots but that is the kind of names I am talking about. This leauge isn't a joke. It isn't where you get your start at being a cordinator IMO. At least not anymore....

:good!:

Finally someone gets it. LT is not a DC and never will be.

I love the Kevin Steele idea. He would love to get a crack at Saban and is a great recruiter.

Hopefully it's a fairly high profile guy with plenty of major conference experience. Not too much of doing buddies favors and handing them positions on the staff
