Coach Tyndall and the 2014 class epidemic...

If I were a prospective recruit and had a LOI to U.T., then the current players tell me all the inside information of how Hart & the Boosters treated Martin, then I may not want to come to U.T. anymore myself.

I am not saying that everything the current basketball players is telling the LOI is true but I would not want to play for a school that SUPPOSEDLY treated Martin horribly.

I just don't get what the school did that "treated Martin so horribly".? And if you have proof I will gladly apologize for disagreeing with you.

Petition=fans
Planes=boosters
salary negotiations=could be considered 50/50 blame.

But lets not act like the school made him park on the Cumberland strip and walk to his office, that also served as a janitor's closet.

Turned into a good thread after all. Well done guys. :)

All of this has been handled perfectly by CDT IMO. He knows what to do. This isn't his first rodeo. Which is comforting to know after all the crap we have gone through over recent times. Key word - overachiever. Just like Butch and Serrano. You know it is going to happen as it should, you just aren't sure when. But you know it is coming.

Another issue with the new recruits could be a personality conflict. Some people just don't mesh. Maybe Cuonzo was all "You're the greatest ever, we can't do without you" and CDT says "hope you guys are ready to get to work, it's gonna be intense". Just speculating but maybe his first impression rubbed them the wrong way.

I have been hearing from posters and several analyst on the radio that CDT has lost these incoming recruits because they do not buy into what he is saying. IMO that is pretty far from the truth. As many of us know there are several factors that go into new recruits picking a school and sticking with it when a coaching change occurs...

1. Did the recruit commit to Martin or UT?
2. Did the recruit fit into the new coaches system?
3. Was the recruit looking for a way out of his LOI?
4. Did the recruit think he fit into CDT's system?
5. And many, many other reasons...

My point is that the recruits are not leaving just because they think CDT is a terrible coach, person, recruiter. There are plenty of other reasons. Everything will work out and be rebuilt, just enjoy the ride...

Having signees want out after a coaching change is common. But, to have all of them leave is puzzling. My take on this is that Cuonzo poisoned the well about the fans and UT so much that the signees bought his poor ole me attitude. He had to pit the current team against the fans to motivate them to play up to their abilities in the NCAA and I am sure it rubbed off on the signees. He convinced everyone that he was a victim and was entitled to something better even though the team was underperforming. He saw the train wreck coming next season and got a 5 year deal at Cal to maintain his HC status a while longer. I don't blame him for that, but it does explain why ALL of the signees bailed out.

It isn't a PR thing - forcing players to stay here who don't want to be here isn't going to get us any wins. Fortunately our coach understands that.

And for what should be the last time but almost certainly will not be, BASKETBALL IS NOT FOOTBALL!

It's not baseball,field hockey,billiards or chess either...CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!!!! :)

BTW...didn't really disagree with your point. :hi:

My admittedly optimistic view:

I think we can bring Cofer back into the fold. Get a couple of Juco players, maybe pick off one of the remaining unsigned top 150 players, hope Cheivous thrives under Time Zone's new system, and ride Josh Richardson and Robert Hubbs to glory next season.

Is this a new nickname for Coach or something?

BS. CCM was making $1m+ and his team was playing awful. He turned the players against the fans to make the run at the end. He was underperforming but got a half million dollar raise after the team started winning. He expected boosters to loan him planes after he treats them like dirt while losing to the likes of TAM, UTEP, Vandy and all.

No, the players were responding to millionaire Martin's poor ole me attitude who was offered a big raise and that rubbed off on the recruits. UT and Hart actually treated him better than he deserved. Fans are fans and didn't like losing, but most got behind him when they started winning.

I agree. I don't think it says much about Tyndall at all. What it does suggest is that Revolutions suck.

We've got to start all over at ground zero. Martin had us in a solid position building a solid to strong program. Now we're back to year zero. It sucks.

It has nothing to do with Tyndall and everything to do with chaos, starting over.
