I’ve always loved baseball. I played and have always been a supporter of all things UT. One thing I’m certain of is Tony V is responsible for making college baseball more exciting than it has been in who knows how long. It just feels like his attitude towards the game has awaken everyone across the country.

Yes and No. There’s established programs like Texas, LSU, and FSU that have been filling the stadium for years. Definitely, has Tennessee fans following baseball.

But overall, college baseball doesn’t enjoy the popularity of football and basketball. I do think this team’s brashness and fun style of play is attracting the attention of more than just UT fans. It’s also good for the sport.

And having two power programs in the state is great for the game in Tennessee. The Tennessee-Vanderbilt rivalry is going to be really fun for the foreseeable future.

It's nice to see the guys having fun, and I don't mind the brashness. But the fur (or whatever it is) coat in the dugout for home run hitters to put on? That's too much for me--rather bush. The "daddy" hat--fine, but the fur coat isn't helping the game. There are pro teams that do similar things--have some sort of curio (a Viking helmet or a wresting belt, etc) that is awarded to the player of the game, as decided by the captain(s). But they do it /after the game/, in the locker room. Nobody puts a viking helmet on a player during a game who, say, has scored a goal in hockey or scored a touchdown. Ditch the fur coach.

Bet you’re a lot of fun! Exactly zero issue with the “cheetah!”

College Football does this stuff. Why shouldn't they have fun.

You must not have watched mlb the past two years. Quite a few teams have a bling thing or wheel barrow working. Let them enjoy the game. It is sport. The Astros have had “The Stare” working but even that has faded. Cycles boo…

Fur coat doesn’t seem to be hurting much.

We should have 100% real furs/skins that are from the mascot of whatever team we are playing.

The only downside to being the talk of the college baseball world, bleeding into major market media in the absence of mlb, are the drivebys. Patience, brother. 🙏

The biggest problem in the baseball forum is you have the “I’m the bigger fan” people. That’ll all go away soon enough and realize we’re all fans.

There’s been a huge influx of folks from other VN forums that I generally avoid. It’s all good. Baseball is quite different from football in that it’s not nearly as game specific. I for one am thoroughly enjoying this March into April run.

I hit the 'ignore' on some people who came in all big and mighty last season as the bandwagon grew.

For those of us who have been baseVol fans for years this run is so much fun. Just this afternoon I ran into a man at grocery I did not know but he had on a Vol cap. I mentioned his hat and 15 minutes later we continued our shopping. He’s been a Vol baseball follower like me for years. We had a lot to talk about.

I like the brashness as well. Especially if that’s what it takes to go out there every week and produce like they have been. I’ve been rooting for the orange for a long time. Way back to Delmonicco days.

Agreed. Plus, so many more games are televised or streamed than ever before. If MLB had gone on strike, the popularity and TV/streaming viewership of college baseball would have been off the charts.

If you build it, they will come.
