He talked more around and less to the questions that Paul asked. There were a few things that he said that sound good:
- Increased depth on the O-line (we already knew that).
- He mentioned that this year is more about developing talent than developing a program. He insinuates that the staff has the system in place and has more time to devote to player development which sounds like good news.
- A few of the guys on the line have put on between 30 and 40 pounds in the new strength, conditioning, and nutrition program. That point stuck out to me since they were
physically overwhelmed quite a bit last year.
- He also mentioned that Chaney is good at molding his system around the talent that he has at the school, which may give a little insight into how he plans to run the offense. At least that much gives me hope that he is not going to stubbornly run the ball if we don't have the line to make that happen.
-He did not mention much about the defense from what I heard. I would've liked to have heard a little more about that, but my listening was cut a little short as I had to walk
into work. Hopefully that side of the ball is improving on the line as well as the linebackers.
It could be a bunch of coach speak and saying what he knows sounds good, but I don't get that vibe from CJP. In the past he seems to be just fine with saying things that make him unpopular, I hope these things are all true and we can count on his word.
