What excites me the most about Coach O coming is that it means we will have a quality DC in waiting when Monte retires. Because we all know Monte will probably only coach a couple more years and is mainly here to help Lane get things in order and get the ball rolling!

I think Monte coaches 1 more year before the stress of dealing with these young men wears him out.

He's coming from a relatively comfortable/veteran lockeroom in Tampa Bay to coach these young men.

1 year? He's said he wants to win championships. You can't win that if you only stay 1 year. I think he's here for at least 3 or 4 years.

Monte is 68 going on 69.

You can't expect that much out of the man for christ sakes he coached with Tom Osborne when Tom Osborne began coaching.:eek:lol:

According to someone (relative of Coach O apparently - that confirmed Coach O was going to Tennessee before some of the reports) Monte was only going to be here for 2 years and Coach O would take over.

I hope that's not the case - I wish he'd stay a bit longer than that.

I think that was just said to get Orgeron here. Either way I don't see him staying longer than 5 years.

I believe he is here just to jump start CLK. He knows Lane is at a coaching crossroads.

I'm all for Monte staying as long as his heart desires.

His age doesn't equate comparison to JoePa.

The man is 68 and still sleeps in the coaches office 5 days a week to cut down on commute time.

He still could have 10 years if his health stays good. He won't stay that long though. 5 years tops.

If you have ever seen video interviews of Monte Kiffin, you should be convinced in your heart that he will be here until he dies.

This guy is 68 going on 28. He's more "youthful" than Lane if you ask me.

I think he will be here for 5-10 years.

Monte Kiffin is not Benjamin Button.

Paterno is 82.

Monte will be here as long as he loves what he's doing.

He may be, but I don't think Coach O has the mentality/personality to be a HC. I think he's a career recruiting and DC/DL star...not a bad way to make a living.

Fwiw, many people in the college football ranks consider O to be a weak X's and O's guy. I don't think it will be a problem if he just uses Monte's system though..

I wouldn't worry about it....if we have the kind of success we're hoping for. The best young defensive minds will be ours for the choosing. I'd like to think that by the time either Monte or Coach O leaves we should have some competent position coaches who want the gig.
