Yes sir I will. Thank you sir... :salute:Relax guys I cannot say with any certainty next season is going to be better or worse. Although I believe it is going to be significantly improved. The two significant differences which should be apparent to all of use is the improvement in the quality of players signed in 2009 and the dramatic change in motivation and attitude of everyone around this program. If Kiffin is known for being good at coaching anything it is the running game and with the quality of players we signed things can only get better. Tennessee has not had a good running game for years. When is the last time we signed a top ten running back. The game of football is still built around a good running game and controlling the football. Time of position is so important in this game and these coaches understand this. Just relax and enjoy the summer. The fall colors in and around knoxville should be much more colorful this year.
Wolfe,
Get real. You need to look at the big picture. 2011, 2012 that's when he will look like a knucklehead if we don't represent and take it to the teams you mention. I don't recall Kiffin promising to beat Fl.,Ga. and Al. this year. When did he say that?? I know some of the publicity is difficult to stomach but so have been the last few years. I just hope Tennessee fans stay true to the Vols. That corner you say Kiffin has painted himself into is only in your mind. Go Big Orange !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lane Kiffin is well qualified for the Job. He can coach, he learned from Jeff Tedford, and all the great USC coaches. Kiffin coached all the great recievers USC got ahold of, like Steve Smith(NYG), and Mike Williams. Kiffin can recruit very well, look at his top 10 class. Kiffin also knows how to use X's and O's to his advantage, look at how he calls his offense, and uses the schemes to help USC go into the national championship in 2005. What else do you need?
I disagree. Yes, he has opened his mouth and put himself into adverse situations but to say that he has to beat Florida, Georgia and/or Bama is ludicrous. He should have you guys competing soon and he may pull an upset here or there... but he doesn't HAVE to beat one of them this season.
I am a huge LK supporter, and unlike you I believe he is calculated in his violations in use of bending the rules to get the best recruits(BBrown situation and recent Joiner situation). But one of your remarks is something I have been thinking. I am interested to see how Kiffin handles press confrences after losses...I hope he handles himself well here and doesn't say anything dumb like putting blame on players ect.
Just one thing I think he needs to be sensitive about w/all the negative press.
My first clue that Fulmer was not a good coach came in 2002 when he folded against Florida at home. That game, not the SEC championship game the previous year, showed me that Fulmer did not have a clue about coaching. Up to that point I never doubted the man.
I hate to say it, but that point is coming a bit earlier for me with Kiffin. I do think that some of these antics were smart to began with, but now there is a pattern of stupidity developing and I feel that in the long run that our program is going to pay dearly for what turns out to be a stupid hire on Mike Hamilton's part.
Three or four secondary violations are usual for competitive teams. But I think that Lane is beginning to look like what other coaches say he is. I was impressed by his hires and his first recruiting class but I am not sure that this boat will be able to bail water as fast as we need to. He is going to screw up at some point in his calculations and we will have a USC scenario. The only problem is that the NCAA will make an example out of us to show its effectiveness after giving USC and Alabama pats on the back.
I do not think that the sky is falling, but something is beginning to smell. I hope that they get it cleaned up before the aroma becomes too strong. I have talked with several other fans that are now getting the same sick feeling and doubting what is really going on.
