Well been thinking about this one for a while and being a big corporate manager of people in the past and owner of a small business now, I consider questions that interviewees ask to be almost as important as the answers I get to my standard questions of them.
That being said what questions would you ask of John Currie if you were interviewing for the (assumed) UT head coaching vacancy and what would you ask if you are John Currie to get the coach you want to take us to the next level where Butch failed?
In no particular order my questions to Currie as an interviewee...

1) Who is the ultimate decision maker over the finances of the athletic dept. and football program? Is it the boosters, the Prez, the AD, board of regents, etc...I think this is where Summlin might have asked for some insight. I want to know who I or you as the AD are getting answers from.

2) What are your plans for keeping up with the Alabama and now Georgia commitments to staff positions? They have increased the "consultant" role to a new level for recruiting, development, classwork, community involvement, etc... UT spends about $28 M on football and the tide and dawgs are $50+M

3) Airplane access for recruiting how many and are they limited use or whenever they are needed. This is important for efficient recruiting for me and my staff.

4) 10 year plan and budget for facilities improvements unless they are currently state of the art. Ours are very good but if you aren't innovating you are dying.

5) What would you consider meeting or exceeding goals for the head coach in the first 5 years and second 5 over a 10 year period. I would assume this was discussed during the expectations aspect of the interview but would love to expand it. In contention for the SEC East every year, Win the SEC 3 times and be in the playoffs 2-3 times. I really would like to know if these expectations are laid out when signing contracts. Is Butch surprised he's on the hotseat when he hasn't sniffed the SEC East or an above avg. bowl or did booger picker Hart tell him 8-4 with an occasional 9-3 and looking up at the SEC east trophy was good enough?

My questions if I'm John Currie... I have no idea:hi:
1) If I pay you to go away when you are underperforming will you accept a three party postdated check from Flying J?

Not arguing with your post but do you have proof of #2?

I read an article on total revenue and net profit and extrapolated the expense number by program and several radio shows on XM have talked about UT and Florida having about half of what Bama has budget wise, how Saban has innovated the consultant role and the need for the NCAA to rein it in (won't happen) or for others to step up their game.
I will see if I can find the article but Bamas budget in 2015 was 51 M and around 54M for 2016 and Georgia was going to be somewhere close to 50M for this year and was one of the things that Kirby "demanded" to accept the job.

If Currie were to sign me to a 4 million dollar a season contract with an 8-10 million dollar buyout, I wouldn't ask him a single thing other than where do I sign.

If I'm the coach being interviewed by UT, the first question I'm asking is "How many games can I lose before I get fired?"

Do you post on any Tennessee websites, especially Volnation?

What's it going to take to get this mess back on track and keep on track?
