GoVols247:
* Josh Heupel meeting with the media to kick off Pittsburgh week: This is a big game for us. First road test against a really good football team in all three phases. They're tough, physical.
* Josh Heupel on the left tackle position: Both guys played well throughout the course of the game. We'll find out more about them in pass pro this week. Pitt's pass rush is one of the better ones we'll see this season.
* Pittsburgh makes it difficult to run the football and for us, our offense starts with running the football.
*Josh Heupel on Pitt's defense: Overall, they make it extremely difficult. They can get to the quarterback on any down, they're veteran on the outside. It'll be a big test offensively.
* Josh Heupel on Pitt QB Kedon Slovis: They have the ability to be different than what they've shown. We'll have to be able to adjust and be disciplined. Have to smash the run game.
* Jimmy Holiday- He operated really efficiently. Identified coverages and got lined up correctly. He just continues to get better in our system, and he also has an impact on special teams.
* Josh Heupel says they'll find out at the end of the week whether #Vols LB Juwan Mitchell will be available against Pittsburgh.
* Last week has nothing to do with this coming week. Last year has nothing to do with this week. We just need to prepare the right way this week.
* Josh Heupel on special teams in game one: Our coverage units were good, but we can still get better. Especially our young guys and they will as they play more.
* Josh Heupel on #Vols freshman RB Dylan Sampson: He matched the things he had been doing in practice.
* Josh Heupel on #Vols QB Hendon Hooker: He would tell you that his success comes from guys getting opener on the perimeter and guys blocking for him up front. But he's also smart, he's grown and continues to get better.
* tight ends getting limited targets week one was just a product of how the game played out.
* Josh Heupel on #Vols freshman edge Josh Josephs: Fast, long and explosive on the edge. He did a really nice job in the reps that he got. A young guy that's going to continue to grow and have a big role for us this year.

* RB Jabari Small on Pittsburgh's defense: They're big and physical. They want to stop the run first and they're good at it. They're just like an SEC team.
* Jabari Small on losing to Pittsburgh last season: I feel like it's been in the back of everybody's mind, just the way it ended. They're a great team, but the way last year's game ended has definitely lit a fire.
* offensive lineman Jerome Carvin on the unit playing with an edge: You want to play as mean as possible. If we keep doing that, we're going to be a great group.
* OL Jerome Carvin: It's a huge week, tough week for us. It's a big test and we still have a bad taste in our mouth from last year.

“Juwan’s ability to be able to be healthy enough to play for us, we’ll find out here at the end of the week,” Heupel said during Monday’s press conference.
But Doug matthews said it wasn’t an injury holding him back… I swear that guy seems just like basilio when it comes to stirring the pot

CJH made a few rremarks about how great the Pitt run defense is, but WV averaged almost 6 yards a carry last Thursday

Looking back at the Pitt/WV box score and I feel a little more confident in A UT victory

They have a condensed version of the game on youtube. I flipped back and forth as much as I could. WVU doesn't play in a physical conference... and they physically whipped Pitt for most of that game. WVU is somehow being viewed as a quality opponent that Pitt beat. They were 7-6 last year. Not counting their FCS win, they beat one team that finished with a winning record (Iowa State- 7-6). Their best game of the year was probably their 13-16 loss to OU. They then lost their QB and top rusher along with several top defensive contributors.

Pitt just struggled to beat, and should have lost to, a middling at best Big 12 team.

The "love" for Pitt's OL and "physicality" is based on last year. But just scratch the surface and you see a pretty big drop off in their run game vs winning/losing teams.

UT has to play a good game. They can't miss 4 or 5 wide open chunk plays. They have to be more exotic both in coverage and pass rush. But honestly... UT should win this game.
