You all think college football revolves around Tennessee athletics.
- OU booted him out (wrongfully)
- UT was a huge upgrade even though he didn't really deserve it at the time.
- He's already in the SEC and in the less difficult division.

So he's not really on anyone's radar ESPECIALLY OKLAHOMA.
AND
He's in a situation now where he's already seeing success and he can build his way.

Seriously guys. Way too many threads on him possibly leaving.

I would say the odds of him leaving are small but to say he isn’t on Oklahoma’s radar is a bit overconfident. People who know football know that there was no way in heck UT should have won seven games in the SEC with a sub 70 scholarship roster

He’s not on the current Oklahoma AD’s radar. They would have to get down the list for him to be on the list and be willing to give money unheard of for someone that far down the list.

Love how fans try to rationalize away the possibility of him leaving.
At the end of the day, it's going to come down to what he and his family want to do...not the mostly irrational logic of us fans.
OK also has a say in it and I’m not convinced they would go after him as first choice.

I have no clue where he is on OU's coaching search list, but I did read several posts on the OU board this morning, and hardly any fans there mention Heupel as A choice or rarely even mention his name.

He seemed deserving. SEC experience, success as a head coach.

I don’t believe Heup is on OU’s radar yet but things can change and rapidly. My biggest concern is that the names being discussed for the OU job seem extremely unrealistic. Kliff Kingsbury and Matt Rhule… not happening. Matt Campbell and Luke Fickell… extremely doubtful.

You start crossing the unrealistic names off the list and before too long you end up with names like Mike Stoops and Josh Heupel. I do agree, the odds are against Heupel just because the boosters seem divided but when they get rejected enough; that could change.

Nice argument to convince yourself that there’s no way he would consider leaving.
He’s not really on anyone’s radar is completely
False, and especially not OU, is insane! He played there , won a Natty, runner up Hiesman, so even if he’s on nobody else’s list he is on there’s.
He’s been getting National media attention for what he’s done with what was left when he got here basically from the start of the season.
Whether he has any desire to go back where he was fired, only he knows or whether he’s discovered it’s not really any more desirable than what he has now.

i don’t think there is any way he is considered for OK, but when has any “fan board” ever been instrumental in hiring a new coach?
will admit Schiano was fired by the fans before he ever interviewed for TN job, thank goodness.

Unless his wife doesn't like it here. But I'm sure you're going to claim to know what the dinner table discussions are in the Heupel household.

Im just guessing the wife possibly could have said, “well honey do you think there is a good chance you may at least get a big raise from TN now?”

And USC did not have Kiffin on thier radar until he was their top choice. I told my friend if Sarkisian turns down USC they will come after Kiffin and they did. While it is not the most likely outcome, anyone who thinks OU will not ever come after Heupel is delusion.

He may not be on the “official” radar, but his name is definitely in the mix, at least among a few sportswriters who are, obviously, speculating as we are. The obvious reasons being his connections there and the success he’s had this year in the SEC.
