did I miss something and the Vols lost to Appy State?

He took two of the most loaded rosters he'll ever have and lost to Memphis and Vanderbilt. I'd say that Appy State team would have beaten either of those teams.

The nation has reached a new low when a Guru attempts to be a Carr apologist at the expense of the Vols.

And for anyone to even try to equate a loss at home to Appy State to losing to an SEC opponent (whose QB played last night) or a game over a decade ago is just plain sad.

it's tough to compre the two when debating numbers, esp. conf. championships because the Big 1o doesn't have a championship game and they still honor "co-championships".

Carr has 5 Big 10 titles, CPF has 4 (maybe 5 this year) SEC East "championships", and two out right conf. titles.

the comparison though is legit when you comapre the two in big games....both struggled against their biggest rivals (FL and OSU). both struggled as better coaching entered the conf. (tressell to OSU, Richt to GA, Meyer to FL etc...) both have had abysmal bowl records of late. both have been critisized for "playing not to lose", hence the big game let down both seem to have.

anyway....i think there are a lot of similarities between the two given their styles of coaching, relationship to players, and opinions of their fan bases.

Trivia question because I am too lazy to look it up, anyone know what conference Pitt was in when majors won the NC there?

Pitt was an independent when they won the '76 N/C. Pitt joined the Big East in '92

I see no link so there's no telling where it came from. It's also no different than anything posted my multiple posters on this very board.

Michigan is a rival in that they are a program of similar stature with similar expectations. I could care less what a Vandy or Mississippi State fan says, because it will usually be "You should be happy to have 8 wins a year".
