Coach Cut

Considering the early success at Duke and what he was able to accomplish at Ole Miss. Is it reasonable to think that maybe Coach Cut was more responsible than we thought for our success in the 90's? He has performed well apart from Phil, while Fulmer has flopped without him.

I didn't realize anyone thought he wasn't responsible.

coach cut killed our running game and schemed our offensive line into a bunch of guys that grab the defense for 2 seconds so ainge can get it out of there. he changed the mindset and somewhere these guys forgot how to run block. we used to have tough mean o lines that can run on anybody. now were lucky to get a 100 yards rushing collective in a game. there was no balance in his second stint at ut

Wasn't Cut here for a lot of those tough mean o lines in the 90's? After watching the o-line play this year I'm starting to wonder if the reason the running game was so mediocre under Cut's second stint was because he knew they couldn't rely on the o-line to win a game.

Yeah your probably right. That passing game was designed to get the ball out quick. Probably because he knew these guys can't hold blocks very long. Thats pitiful, phil was a o-line guy and his line is this soft. I'd be chewing some butts or setting some butts on the bench.

Cut is a good offensive / QB coach--solid on reads, fundamentals, throwing motion, etc. Clawson isn't the answer.

I've been saying the same thing since week 3. Cut can live without fulmer, not the other way around. I've done a complete 180 on my Fulmer stance. The only reason he had success after Cut was because of the 98 and 2001 seasons (2001 was good cause of 98). Since then every 3 or 4 year cycle has been more and more mediocre with the bad years dipping into disaster.

Maybe coach Cut got away from the run because he was covering up for our o-line not being very good. Face it...When Cut was here we were successful. When he left ...not so much. When he came back ...we got alot better. Now he's gone again... we're horrible. It's really hard to argue that.

That's what I just don't understand. Fulmer's entire career has been based on solid line play which has been a sense of pide for him being an old o-line guy.

This rubbish of players up front this year is terrible with no signs of getting better. I saw them consistently whipped in the NIU game. Sad.

I might get blasted, but I think Strong would be a safe pick.

I think UT will roll the dice with their next pick. This one would be as safe as any if they plan to pick up a lessor name with good credentials. It would also be very good PR for the University following a few years of negative PR we have received regarding discipline and coaching speculation.

Puhlleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese not another Vol HC with Florida ties, once in one lifetime is all I can stand!!!

Charlie will probably get the HC job at Arkansas after Petrino bombs out or he might get the Gamecock job if Steve decides to hang up his spurriors in the near future, nine iron has already made a public statement that could lead one to think he is leaning that way, besides, coaching seems to be interfering with his putting these days.

Also Strong is 0-1 as an SEC HC.

I've done a complete 360 on my Fulmer stance.

My math skills may be a bit fuzzy but let me ask for a clarification, did you mean a 360 or a 180??

I getting a mental picture of a pirouette and that doesn't seem to fit this discussion!!

HAHAHAHHAHA
Yea AP calculus is making me forget all other forms of math. 180 sounds more appropriate.
