Coach Caldwell Presser today

I wish someone would have asked if she is considering making adjustments to her system to try to get the best out of this group of players.
I think it's hard to start talking about system changes when you're not getting 100% effort out of your players. Defense comes from your heart and hard work. That's the biggest problem that leads to blowouts giving up easy baskets. Quit taking so many 3s and make some layups will help too.

We will look back on this era someday and think fondly of a young KC that was just put in a spot where she was destined to be a short experiment. I really like her but just don't think what she wants to do will ever work against the highest level of coaches and athletes. Maybe she just needs 10 of the "right" players to make it work, but that's a tough ask in this day when rosters and player attitudes change like the weather in TN. When her time is up, this will be more about DW's gamble than it will be KC.

Talking openly about players who do things "the right way" seems a bit divisive and perhaps unwise when you have people clipping Coop and Lyss seemingly yelling at each other while the first years giggle. Even if that was not what was happening in the huddle, that's the narrative. My kingdom for a skilled communications person who can help her balance authenticity with the idea that some things can stay in house.

Caldwell said , “I told them I’m a better Coach for you guys when I’m just mad all the time, and that’s the version that we’re gonna get.”

Wonder how that will sound to prospective recruits?
Got to fix what's broken now... One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. Sounds like she's working hard on trying to get everyone back in line.

I do wonder, considering the Volquest statements about her struggling with the CEO aspect of it and the media, why Danny hasn’t helped her more. He had to have known this was going to be a major adjustment for a relatively young and inexperienced at this level coach. I get he wants to let her do it her way and not meddle, but there were always going to be things that she would need help adapting to at this large of stage. Maybe he thought Gabe and Roman would help?

it also seems like such an easy thing to help with? Gabe and Roman have also both never been head coaches at this level, and they came from programs with far less scrutiny. I totally get letting Kim be Kim, but like... you just have to claw back a few comments and it would be largely fine. I just can't imagine it would be a heavy lift to help her out.
