Hes got the Coach look...I'm all in also...i think its time to look forwards and quit with this Gruden BS...and all the crying some fans are doing.....
I think it is very important to get a guy that wants to be here, and thinks this is a great opportunity, and i believe we have that in Coach Jones..The open door policy for former players is something that i hoped would happen...I am behind anyone that really wants to take on such a tough job, but the hire looks better, the more i get to know about him
Overall 50-27 and 32-12 in conference games. And people are calling this as Dooley 2.0??? It's a clear upgrade, it's just a matter of whether or not it's enough of one.
As it stands, I'll gladly take it. Let's go recruit, Jack.
Go back and look at all the threads where almost everyone--including myself--was impressed and seduced by Dooley's southern drawl and display of organization and professionalism....heck--they were even singing Andy Griffith songs about Dooley coming up the holler...tryin' to make a dollar--gimme a swaller--and I'll pay you back some day!
So--no, the enthusiasm doesn't feel different--It's just that Coach Jones is a totally different PERSONALITY and NOT A POLISHED LAWYER...
Good move to have an open-door policy and recruit the support and presence of former players....
And, if he don't win--everyone will be talking about how pathetic of a coach he is...in over his head...never should have been hired.....He will be judged by the same criteria that every other coach in the SEC is: W's & L's...
I was always impressed by Dooley when he spoke to the press. He's a smart guy, and articulate, but apparently he can't coach--or couldn't in the SEC. Fulmer was terrible at press conferences, and the truth is, they mean nothing. Jones will rise or fall on whether he and staff can recruit and scheme and win some SEC football games--and it damn sure isn't going to be easy with the state of the league right now. Maybe he can pull some kids out of Ohio. We used to sign kids regularly out of that state but not for a while. Chuck Webb--from Toledo.
