He is one of if not the best in the conference...that's why CLK did everything except "off" his wife for him, to get him back to Knoxville.

Nobody even comes close??
Maybe Orgeron...and Eddie Gran has been flexing his recruiting muscles lately...but IMO Garner could talk ksusha into telling the truth that she is the fry girl at the McDonald's in Strawberry Plains.

Hahaha, i always enjoy the threads where she ends up pissing off one of the VN's great white fathers and gets owned.

Hat had a pretty memorable one around the initial Kiffin hire.

No, we don't. Nobody does.

Nobody has four guys with the same literal resume as Garner, but: Ed Orgeron and Frank Wilson and Lance Thompson are three guys with enormously heavy reputations as recruiters in the SEC. Kiffin himself has a good reputation as a recruiter. I'll take all of that firepower any day over an apparently aging Rodney Garner.

I don't think he was raggin on the staff...I think it was more of an attempt to correct the underestimation of Garner's recruiting ability. No harm no foul.

I should add -- when I say "an apparently aging Rodney Garner," I mean this: more than one of my Bulldog friends around were disappointed that Tennessee didn't hire him. Standard attitude: "This guy can't actually coach that much at all, so if the only thing you can do is recruit, then you'd better bring the players in better than you have the last few years." They loved Garner the first few years he was down here, but lately, they're lashing out more about the fact that there doesn't seem to be a hell of a lot of coaching going on. Garner's empty seat at the coaching table has become a little more ugly recently. "How about that Willie Martinez?!?"

No UT fan should underestimate Rodney Garner's recruiting ability -- between that and the Peyton Manning effect, we won two SEC championships and a so-called NC. But still. Garner's not 30 any more; he's a comfortable 43. He still brings the players, but not with the thunderclap that he did 10 years ago. And if you're an UGA fan, the fact that he can't really do any actual coaching once he's brought the players to campus keeps coming up too. Aww. Too bad.
