CLT seemed to be a good dude, but was he really as loyal as some folks claim?

Don't flame me as I do not know the answer, but I am just asking the questions..

I have heard/read multiple time how Loyal CLT was when Kitten left..... I do not remember LK trying to take him with him to USC nor do I think CLT would have went with him to start with as his connections here and Alabamba... Not to mention I don't think he and Yaw Yaw ever got along very well....

If I remember correctly Monte and Yaw Yaw already had their bags packed and were headed towards the airport when LK had his press conference... I think the other members of the staff were sitting there trying to figure out what they were going to do and if they would even have a job after he left...

Again not in anyway trying bash CLT just just questioning the Loyalty thing... Also did he have other oppurtunities to move beside bama while he was here?

I'm not sure how much loyalty factors into the equation for me. I'm not saying it isn't important, but I also think it can be overrated in this particular era. I do think Thompson liked it here.

According to insiders on volquest, LT was a very good coach but partied way too much and apparently that really hurt his recruiting here. They said Dooley wasn't losing any sweat over losing LT.

Sounds like something Basillio would say, FWIW. Dooley obviously didn't like him enough to give him an interview. Dooley is the head coach, and that is his call.

CJP is our guy now...I wish CLT the best, but we want the ones who want to be here and obviously CLT didn't.

There is a lot of bs that comes from people on there but that came from one of the best insiders there. Its considered fact if he says something and no one denies anything he says

Could care less about it either way, to be honest with you. It is still unnecessary drama. I've got no interest in making him into a saint if he stays, or a villain because he left.

Not a whole lotta loyalty to schools in the coaching profession. The only thing that schools are loyal to is winning, so there's not much incentive for a coach to be loyal to a school.

Excellent point.. That is part of the reason I wonder about it......

It makes me wonder if the current staff had the opinion that they gave him a job instead of him being loyal when the former staff left.....

Again I could be wrong, but I do not think LK ever asked him to go with them....

To be honest I don't remember anyone offering another position either since they left other than Alabama... I wonder about that hire also as we just took Sal....

I do remember his name coming up a couple of times when vacancies appeared at other places, but never did hear of an official offer....

I think he was just in the right place at the right time when Wilcox was hired... plus he had a good resume of people he had worked with and was a good hire.... plus he brought some stabilty at the time to the current players on the team...

I'm not turning him into a villian. Hes a great coach and would love to still have him but this has been brought up numerous times

LK left without...and Thompson has hated his guts since. In reality Thompson is and never will be a USC kind of guy. He has earned his rep in the south, and that is where he belongs.

Yaw Yaw? now that's funny. I still can hardly believe Orgeron actually wore UT orange for awhile. Was that whole year just one big dream we had, sort of like Bobby Ewing on the old tv show Dallas (showing my age here)?

Paycheck equals loyalty. These guys could care less about these schools. It's just a paycheck.

Lance Thompson was a very good recruiter at Alabama. When he left Bama to come here under Kiffin it was because he was getting a pay raise as well as the opportunity to learn from one of the best defensive minds of this modern age in Monte. He also had some personal issues that deal with his partying lifestyle that made a change of scenery easier at the time...

Lance and Dooley knew each other previously and thus he felt comfortable staying on staff after the Kiffin debacle. Lance should not have been considered for this DC job. I'm sorry for being blunt, but if we want to be the best then we have to go after the best, which is what Dooley did. Lance felt snubbed b/c he didn't get mentioned or taken seriously for the position, so he left.

Bottom line: Thanks for your time here we appreciate it, but it's not like losing him hurts us terribly. He did have off the distractions b/c he loved to party. I'm happy with the switch and wish him the best except on the 3rd Saturday in October.
