Closing Arguments RE: Obama

One week to go - how about a thread for each candidate where supporters/detractors can make their final arguments for/against each candidate. I suggest we don't get into protracted arguments in each thread but instead post our own views rather than addressing others (just a suggestion - not a rule).

Who knows? Maybe a VNr will have their mind changed?

My list against Obama:

1. Economic/Social Justice: Obama both through words and deeds has indicated his plans to use government tools (laws, taxation, courts) to "create" equality. Make no mistake, his policies are designed to move resources from one group to another based on "justice".

2. As a result of the above policies our economy will stagnate.

3. As a result of the above policies entitlements will skyrocket and "those that can afford it" will be a growing pool to tax until no one can afford it.

4. Our foreign policy will move to an apology/permission approach with a decrease in military power.

5. He has sold a bill of goods on ideas of "uniter". He has no history of bi-partisanship. In his speech this morning he talked of uniting, new politics right before he trashed McCain, Wall Street, high income earners, etc. His words and deeds do not match.

6. An Obama victory establishes Reid, Pelosi and Obama as controllers of our destiny. God help us all.

Overall, this guy views the federal government as the solution to all problems. As a result, the federal government will be a larger problem than it is now.

Obama is great!

-Republicans will now have four years to rebuild their party bigger, better and more representative.
-The spotlight goes to those in control (see other post) Pelosi, Reid, Frank et al are in for a rude awakening.
-for those of you worried about a super majority, when was the last time you can recall the democrats worked as a unit? Nothing will get done from all the in-fighting

The economic justice language is the scariest thing I've heard from the man and I can't in any way understand anyone, as an American, justifying that worldview.

He will be a dove in the foreign policy arena and all of the bad guys know it.

He knows so little of economics that I think he actually believes that his tax plan is viable. He touts cost cutting as his current savior and there is no prayer of that ever happening.

His potential appointments to the SCOTUS could make RBG look like Scalia if he can get it done prior to the congress shifting away from him.

An Obama appointed cabinet scares me, especially SecDef and SecState.

All of you are so "gloom and doom". The truth is you don't really know. It is almost as if you wish the man to fail.

Gee, BPV, you don't think Obama will put competent, experienced people in his cabinet????

I cannot think of a bigger threat to the American way of life. There is NO one that I could hope more to fail.:)

all we have upon which to make decisions is Obama's limited history.

More of it came to light this week and it was worse than anything we have seen to date. Obama has gone miles out of his way and the media has supported him in letting much of his past remain private, so we're left with very limited data.

If you want to make decisions based upon an overly tailored campaign message, more power to you.

I simply gave my opinion of what I believe we're about to elect to the White House. I firmly believe he's an economic infant, dove, socialist at heart, big spending, ultra-liberal.

That doesn't mean things will go poorly. I didn't say they would go poorly. Presidents are often made or broken by the circumstances around them that are most often out of their own control. I hope, for all of our sakes, that Obama ends up with favorable circumstances throughout his 4 years, because what we've seen from him to date suggest nothing about his ability to manage an enormous outfit.

The rhetorical question about cabinet positions is ridiculous. His political cronies is a who's who of political trash. The folks he has called mentors are absolutely worthless IMO. His associations are dubious at the very best. How on earth you think he might make reasonable appointments to his cabinet or SCOTUS is beyond me.

What's scary is the fact dolts like you believe every bit of right wing propaganda sent over the airwaves. Educate yourself a little on all sides of issues before you make such uninformed comments...kind of like the fact you think the people who voted for Obama should resign their jobs before the layoffs start. You probably believe Obama is a Muslim, will harbour terrorists, will sacrifice Israel and increase welfare....all lies of course, but painting the picture so bleak is how you operate. Plain and simple.

I am not a blind supporter of Obama. there are a ton of questions in my mind about his ability to be an effective president, but far less than those I have in a McCain administration...especially when he shows such poor judgement picking a runnning mate like Sarah Palin

What you fail to acknowledge is the fact that your man does now and always has, surrounded himself with radicals and extreme people that do not think America is a great country.

Hey, I tried. I posted a few simple opinions and someone responded to them, rather than following the thread rules.

In fact, this joint is lucky that I'm such a good citizen.
