Derek Dooley Invokes Nazis at D-Day to Describe Tennessee -- NCAAFB FanHouse

OK, still yet, nobody has explained to me why Dooley's analogy of UT and you know, the Germans is so offensive. Read this f'in article by Clay Travis. (For the record, i never trust somebody with two first names). He gives a commentary. From his point of view. But fails, like every other article on the subject, to explain why what Dooley said is offensive. The closest he could come is comparing it (as we need to get used to) to Saban's comparing their LA Monroe loss to 9/11. There's one problem with this. 9/11 was only a couple years earlier. Way "too soon" as Jeff Ross would say.

I still can't tell regardless of when we would have said it why his comments were offensive. No article has. I've looked. It ain't there.

WTF is Clay Travis anyway? A Nazi?

People are just too PC/sensitive these days. I thought it was a hilarious description.

only thing Clay Travis is good for is arguing with redneck Bama callers on Finebaum. I always get a good laugh out of that one.

I actually kind of like Clay, but he has been going crazy on Dooley this week. He (Travis) is just an opportunistic "journalist" that likes to sensationalize everything. That's why people listen to his radio show, and read his glorified blog. Clay really does bleed orange, and for that, I cut him slack...but he is dead wrong about Dooley.

There is a word that applies to people who can only muster the courage to kick someone when they are down and their back is turned.

Starts with a P....

Clay Travis has been acting like an ass all week. I don't even need to read the article, I'm sure it is just more Dooley bashing.

Clay Travis, for some odd reason, has completely changed how he covers the Vols in a few short days. Once, a proud fan and journalist who supported UT and went to bat for us. Recently, he seems more ready to bash. All fans and journalist have the right to speak their displeasure, but his seems to be coming from somewhere deeper. A bit more personal.

Before the season started he was on the Finebaum show and several people said that he was really close to being a young version of Paul. Finebaum even said so. Ever since then I have noticed the change. He is stuck on himself and if that is what he is trying to be ... a Finebaum wannabe ... to hell with him. Paul hangs his hat on getting people fired. When he isn't doing that , he is busy creating man made weather , by making a big deal out of nothing. Clay Travis is trying to do the same. Keyword trying. Paul is a joke , but he has been one for years and never changed his style.

"When stories such as this arise, it's easy to criticize the media for being dumb, but the media isn't really dumb. It's agnostic toward intelligent and unintelligent thought alike. It's a large beast that responds to what the American public responds to. And as a group the American public can be quite dumb; that's where the stupidity really arises."

He lost me with this. How can he be involved in journalism and actually think that journalists don't try to set the tone? I'm covering something stupid, but only b/c you are stupid is what he's saying. He's learned the art of condescension quite well. Perhaps he should run for office.

I've heard John Brice from Volquest and the guy from Mr. SEC.com John Pennington I think is his name, talk about this. They both said it was no big deal and they thought it was funny. Brice said the only reason any of the media people or anyone else would be upset about it is because Dooley was smarter than them when it comes to history and they were jealous. I thought that was pretty funny.

Talking down to the public and acting like his opinion is fact. His comments are a shortcut to thinking. Clay is just another media whore and not even a good one.

The problem could be that Clay Travis doesn't know enough about the history of the invasion to understand what Dooley is talking about.

But he believes he does and goes out of his way to convince you that he is right , even if he is FOS. If you prove him wrong , he will cut down the town you are from. If you really make him look like a fool , he will challenge you to a spelling test. Typical Vandy douchebag.

Clay Travis is just upset because he's already slammed CDD, very recently; therefore, he can't come out this soon after a verbal berating and say something positive or he would look like a media hypocrite.

Finebaum. There's a real piece of work. What a tool. I can't stand that guy either; I don't care if he is a UT grad. The guy is a jack wad.
