Anyone else got this book yet?
I read the first three chapters (aside from the terrible memories of the UCLA game) it is a pretty good read thus far.

Couple notes:

J Crompton is pretty funny.

Arian Fosters mom is pretty hot.

johnny long is an idiot.

Just finished the book this morning, and it was a good read. He makes some interesting points about how his perspective changed once he really got to know many of the people closest to the team. You're right about Crompton, the story about how him and the Michael Jackson impersonator almost got into it was hilarious.

UT Football is and will continue to be the biggest thing in the state. What do you think is bigger? And don't try to tell me the Titans.

It's not the Titans and never will be. They have a pretty loyal fanbase in Nashville, but they don't seem to resonate as well with the rest of the state. I personally like them (they are still a distant second to my love for the Vols) because I was living in Nashville when the Oilers moved there, and like most of the other people at my high school, I got hooked. But for the most part, the rest of the state doesn't care too much about them. UT on the other hand has a loyal following across the state. (At least in east and middle TN, the two parts of the state I have ever lived in, I can't say for Memphis and the far western part of TN)

Yeah, but titans fans will come and go. that's just the nature of the NFL. It might be the case this year because the titans were one of the NFL's top teams last season, and UT sucked last year. But in the NFL, who knows, the Titans could be back at the bottom in 2 or 3 years. One of the big points of Clay's book was that one of the main things that made SEC football so important to people was it's connection between the generations. Even the most die hard Titans fan has only been cheering for the team for 10 years. No one inherited a love of that team from their father or grandfather like many of us did our love for UT.
