Clay Travis: Jeremy Pruitt is in a tough spot

While Clay is an idiot carnival barker (amongst other things), he is right about this...

Pruitt has a really tough job. He has inherited a team that went 0-8 last year in the SEC, have had 3 middle of the pack recruiting classes in a row, a team way behind due to incompetent S&C program of the prior coach, and a bunch of players that were recruited to run a basic JV offense of the prior coach. Layer on top of this a fanbase that will expect tangible results by 2019 or 2020 (at the latest) and you have a recipe for a tough job, especially when you have to play UGA and Bama every year.

We used to pluck great players out of Georgia, the Carolinas, and fill in from all around. Now we can’t even get the elite instate guys to stay. The mountain for Pruitt to overcome is daunting.

What has Dan Mullen done already at FL? And Muschamp is on the rise after losing to KY 3 years in a row?

Another thing: I've always been mostly an offensive guy, but man, it would be exciting to be able to watch a lockdown SEC defense at Tennessee.

Nothing is more discouraging than watching the likes of Bowling Green go up and down the field. I’m ready for defense too! A smash mouth knock you on your rear defense!!

Muschamp continues dominance over Tennessee. UT isn't going anywhere until that streak is broken, regardless of South Carolina/UK results. Mullen has achieved as a head coach and appears to have left the cupboard stocked for his successor.

It wasn't talking about TN specifically. Anyways, Muschamp had it over Butch. Over Pruitt it remains to be seen. Regardless, it said SC was on the rise. If they cant beat KY then they're not getting to the top.

And for Mullen it said he accomplished at FL not Miss State.

We will out recruit Muschamp and keep pace with Florida.

Once we start winning those games (like we should) and actually beat a West team for once, we will be able to catch up to UGA.

Year 1: We reestablish our dominance over Vandy, KY, and Mizzou. And we beat a downtrodden Florida team.
Year 2: We reestablish our dominance over SCAR and start winning rotational SECwest games.
Year 3: Everybody is fair game. We compete for championships.

No. But, rest assured, he crowed like the rest of the media @ how Vol BB was picked 13th. Yet never mentioned he being one himself. Birds of a feather.

He needs to reel in a 5 star QB like Fields

Peyton Manning still has enough influence on young QB's he could be of particular help getting them on a Tennessee roster, IF he would. Coach Pruitt and coach Helton should put him to the test and find out if Peyton Manning has the time and inclination.

Well the Travis article does not tell us nothing most fans don't already now, you have to recruit well in to win in the SEC. DUH, what a astute observation. GBO!

So Travis doesn’t know if CJP can recruit well enough? I’m just going to leave it there.

Another Captain Obvious article from Clay Travis. Teats on a boar hog.

Just going with my gut, I feel if you bring in people who know what they are doing and the powers that be stay outta the way to allow them to do what you need them to do, this program can return to prominence. Yeah, good luck with that!
