Remember how bad Stanford was last year after week 1 cause they lost to Northwestern?

Or how bad North Carolina was after week 1 cause they lost to South Carolina?

Or how about Washington State losing to FCS team Pacific in week 1?

We actually won and people are losing it over ONE GAME. Chill folks. Its just one game. Its just week 1. All three of those teams I mentioned went on to play amazing football the rest of the way. Especially Stanford and North Carolina that were playoff contenders till the final week.

This one game has zero effect to how the rest of our season goes. In fact it might help us. The guys will get the benefit of feeling what it's like to lose without actually losing.

Expect this team to be clicking on all cylinders week 2.

Here's what I have to say in regards to the OP's topic. We are not those teams, we did not play their opponents. In my opinion, we are the masters of our own destiny. We, honestly, have a playoff caliber team in our locker room.

People have a cause for concern, but yes many people are being a bit silly. Give your team the benefit of the doubt. If we come out next week looking the same, then Panic.

Even if we get into an offensive rhythm, I expect Deboring will find a way to eff it up.

Hey if we get up by 14 late, I have faith in out defense to close it out this year. .....

But thats a big if, considering I'm not sure we're going to even score 14 total.

If anyone would like to go back a few years and research it you will find that a lot of upsets, as you mentioned above are quite normal. I would guess there will be some this weekend. These type of upset where a big college losses to a small, no name school normally happen in the first 3 weeks of the season. It is much less common to loss to the homecoming opponent. The reason being the large colleges get the bugs worked out of their offenses and defenses. We won. Look forward to next week.

Great post. Go back to 2012, we beat a fairly good NC State team in the opener and most fans thought we were back.

I don't put much stock in last night's game. I put less stock in the opinion of someone who said every game would be a blowout win except Bama.

I did not see any good teams on the field last night. Appy State lost the game because of bad breaks. All of the breaks went our way 2nd half otherwise we lose this game. Not much to talk about.

Im cautiously optimistic that last night was a fluke and we simply weren't prepared. This is, for the most part, the same group of guys that dominated Northwestern in the bowl last year. I think its fairly obvious the guys were believing all the hype around them. Hopefully this is a wake up call and they get it in gear from here on out.
