We have for to start turning ppl away soon. By my count we take
0-1 Qb
1 Rb
2 Wr
2 OL
3-4 DL
1 LB
3-4 Db

If these numbers are right then some guys we like will have to be told no.

I agree with this. I'd be surprised if they take a QB in this class. It will really depend on what kind of talent we can bring in on the lines. We take as many as possible on DL and in the secondary.

I think we'll be good on numbers. The fact that we will have to turn away some good prospects is a good sign. We'll leave some spots open for kids we really want and probably greyshirt Dews IF we have a few guys that want in. Polar opposite to how it's been the last few years with Dooley. I have no inside info but I believe we have a chance to land some guys under the radar (Garrett maybe Jackson?) and we'll wrap 2014 top 5 def top 10 at minimum.

30 or more depending on how many EEs we backcount and how many Schollies we can free up to be under the 85.

I would not take another QB and think very hard before taking another RB, but in Butch I trust!

Not worried about numbers. We've already seen a receiver leave the class because his spot was filled with better players, we will grey shirt Dews, and if a stud wants in we will clear a spot.

I don't like that (promising a kid a scholarship and then saying seeya), but numbers shouldn't be a worry because you can rest assured thats what will happen.

After telling Dews he has a scholarship, I doubt Butch will take it away this year. Butch and the staff really like his potential and I believe he is a VFL. I don't think Butch wants to get that reputation with recruits and their coaches. :salute::salute::salute:

Dews will get that scholarship. In 2015.

We really have no idea what Butch told Dews since he isn't allowed to talk about recruits, no point in acting like we know what will happen there.

Let's finish up with:

1. Evan Berry CB 3 star 5.7
2. Elliot Berry S/LB 3 star 5.7
3. Barnet DE/DT 4 star 5.8
4. Hendrix DE 4 star 5.9
5. Malone WR 4 star 6.0
6. Lauderdale WR 4 star 5.9
7. Sawyers DT 3 star 5.7
8. Blair OT 4 star 6.0
9. Mosley DT.OG 3 star 5.7
10. Gaulden S 4 star 5.8
11. Lammons CB 4 star 5.8
12. Harrell Ath 3 star 5.7

We would finish with 3190 points on Rival. Bama was number one in recruiting last year with 3166. We could finish # one in recruiting!!!!

Good list, and I think any of us would take that, but we need to shave at least 1-2 names off of there for HS lineman particularly Tackles

Hurd - 4*
Paulk - 3*
Powell - 3*
Wolf - 3*
Helm - 4*
Blair - 4*
Thomas - 3*
Brown - 3*
Booth - 4*
Lauderdale - 4*
Malone - 4*
Creamer - 3*
K. Jackson - 3*
Wharton - 4*
Medley - 3*
Barnett - 4*
Henderson - 3*
Ford - 3*
Hendrix - 4*
Lambert - 3*
Berry - 3*
Mouhon - 4*
Bates - 4*
Weatherd - 4*
Bryant - 3*
Dews - 2*
Gaulden - 4*
TK Jr. - 4*
Payne - 4*
Berry - 3*

That's 30 players. I can see that very realistically happen.

Monkey Wrench Players: (Players who can mess that all up, because you don't tell them no if you have a space)
Adoree' Jackson - 5*
Damien Prince - 5*
Brock Ruble - 3*
Clifton Garrett - 4*
Nyles Morgan - 4*
Andrew Williams - 4*
Cortez McDowell - 4*
D.J. Smith - 4*
Tyreek Hill - 4*
Petera Wilson - 4*
Connor Humphries - 4*
Michael Sawyers - 3*
Charles Mosley -4*
Emmanuel Smith - 4*
Chris Lammons - 4*

But I do wonder if Butch would make a statement to high rated recruits this year. What I mean, is if we fill this class, and we get who we want, and they're VFL and talented, would he turn away a higher rated recruit?

I know some would say, "We're not in the position to turn away talent." Who said that we would be? I think every single player we have committed is talented. Just because we turned away a 5* CB because we have 3 4* CB's already doesn't mean we are turning away talent. We already have talent, and he didn't get on board quick enough.

I want UT to fill its class with guys who love UT, and are VFL's. I don't want our staff to beg and grovel with kids to come to UT. UT sells itself.

I genuinely hope to an extent that this happens:

1. Butch fills this class by December.
2. Butch has a killer season.
3. Butch gets some huge recruits who call saying, "We saw what you did on the field. We believe. We want to play for Tennessee."
4. Butch says, "Well boys, I appreciate that, but Tennessee hasn't changed since you visited last summer. If you really wanted to play for Tennessee, why didn't you back then? I'm sorry, but I've got my class, best of luck to you somewhere else."
5. High rated recruit then talks to reporter and says: "I tried to commit to Tennessee, but Coach Jones told me that they were already full, and he would not take my commitment."
6. Other recruits read that, and think to themselves: "Tennessee turned him away, even though he's a great player?!?"
7. Tennessee offers other recruits and they think to themselves, "Tennessee offered! I better act quick if I even think I want to play for them, or else, I'll be left in the cold."

All of a sudden, we've got 5* recruits seriously considering us very very early. The more exclusive you make something, the more desirable it becomes.

You may not agree, but this is how I would like to see University of Tennessee football become.

Of all the things that would never happen, # 5 would never happen most.
