Clark Lea to Vanderbilt

Absolutely fantastic hire. Whether or not he succeeds at Vanderbilt is pretty hard to predict given the obvious difficulty associated with the job, but this is a serious young hire (with more pedigree than Franklin had, in some ways, when arriving in Nashville) who could be at the school for a long time given frequent 4-6 win seasons.

They should have went hard after Will Healy IMO. That dude could have brought in some talent and changed things.

Maybe he gets the job in 4 year when Lea is fired. Probably not, though. He'll be on to bigger and better things.

Second part of your post is correct, in 4 years Will Healy will already have a much better job than Vanderbilt.

For their standards, this isn’t a bad hire.

Definitely could have done a lot worse.

Pretty much what I think. I don't know if he'll be as good as Franklin was due to the East being stronger but he might do better than Mason.

Mason was a DC. TBH he never should have left Stanford. When he hit campus the talent was graduating and Franklin knew when to jump ship. Candy is a place where people go to commit career suicide.

Nice payday for him.

Also Nashville > South Bend.

People ask why would anyone coach at Vandy? The answer is pretty simple: $15 million over 5 years, then you get your buyout, probably in the range of $5 - 12 million. You go back to being a DC afterwards, but in the meantime, you made a lot more money and got to live in a pretty nice, up and coming city. It's a sweet gig. It's like being a backup QB in the NFL; no fame and little glory, but the money is good.
