Clarify Boo Carter (Nashville Radio)

Reports are that Carter has done community service by visiting the Children's Hospital, something Vols have done for an eternity and it's a great thing. I'm glad the players volunteer their time to bring some joy to sick children.

HOWEVER, media in Nashville are spinning this as Carter being MADE to do this instead of him volunteering his time out of the kindness of his heart.

There have been a lot of rumors about Carter and some have been disproven. The biggest one being that Carter was already out the door when coach came out and said no, he's on the team.

It just seems like to me there is too much spin and speculation going on.

Is it not possible that Carter would just visit the Children's Hospital just because and not because he's being made to? How do you make someone do that anyway?
The only thing that matters is what the kids think! I doubt it crossed their minds why Boo as there.

The only way to transfer and be eligible immediately outside of the transfer portal window, is to unenrolled from your current school and enroll in another school, provided you have made no contact with that school’s staff. Because you did not enter the transfer portal, you cannot have any contact with another schools coaching staff until you enroll in that school. They don’t even have to pay their own way once they get there. They can be placed on scholarship. It will be a moot point from now on anyway, since there are no longer walk-ons and scholarship limits, just roster limits.

But once you have participated in a practice, you’re not eligible to play at another school during that season.

If the BYU quarterback had just left school and enrolled somewhere else under the circumstances he did, BYU almost certainly would have pursued a tampering case against them because it’s just not realistic to transfer to a new school and automatically assume that you would be a member of the team. But because he was dismissed from school, it worked out.

He wasn't dismissed from school. He was going to be suspended for 7 games.

That was the minimum punishment, the honor code violation likely would have dismissed him from school because of the seriousness of the allegation initially. Admitting to the premarital sex didn’t necessarily mean that the honor code board was going to overlook the now dismissed sexual assault complaint.

Whatever, he was effectively not going to be allowed to play this year, so coaches weren’t going to oppose or impede his transfer. One of my biggest clients helped facilitate his move.

Ordering someone to do community service as a requirement for being on the team is within the teams right. I’m not really concerned about the motivation. I only care about the kids and hope he made them happy.

This 100%.

As far as Boo being out the door and Heupel basically forcing him to stay by saying that he's on the team--sounds like a huge media spin. Heupel is a good culture guy above all else and he's proven that. If he told Nico to hit the door, he would've done the same to Boo had Boo truly not wanted to rejoin the team. Just my opinion.

Our media is a headache. Boo could be a headache but even if he is, our media just needs to shut up about it and let Heupel, Boo, and the staff address. I feel like the media is trying to run him out of Knoxville and I have no idea what is going on with him, his family, etc. There could be more to the story and it isn't fair to jump on and judge this kid when we don't know the facts.
He is a professional athlete. He isn’t a freaking child.
