Tennessee Vols football: Smokey Grey uniforms Jeremy Pruitt Phillip Fulmer

"The arrival of a new head coach could leave the future existence of Tennessee's Smokey Grey alternate uniforms up in the air.

The Vols wore the combination six times in five seasons under previous head coach Butch Jones and split those games.

Their fate is now in the hands of new coach Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee athletic director Phillip Fulmer said "

I really liked them, I thought Nike did a fantastic job (Much better than Adidas) and it wouldn't bother me if we kept on using them.

That being said, I can understand wanting to move on from them. If we do I hope we get a different type of alternate uniform down the road.

Get rid of the Smokey greys imo. Looks like that’s gonna happen as CPF said CJP is a bit of a traditionalist. Let’s get back to orange and white imo or, at a minimum, redesign an alternate uni. Not a Smokey grey fan myself.

Its really no big deal to me, but I'd be happiest with just Orange and White.

I hated them when they still wore the white helmet, but when the helmet was matched, I changed my mind. I like them now and hope they are kept for a once a year game.

I always thought they looked like practice uniforms, but I'll tell you what. I don't care what they wear as long as they show up ready to open a can of whoopazz.

The grey unis look like pajamas. Get rid of them forever. Part of the Butch error.

Fyp.

Now with HD color TVs we should scrap the away jerseys and all teams wear their colors.

Any alt unis should be worn on the road.

With the addition of the gray unis it gave me an "excuse" to add to my collection.

I like the idea of occasionally wearing a "throw-back" uniform. The 1967 look would be interesting, with the black cleats, white socks, thinner helmet stripe and power T. Or the gray jerseys of the early 1900s would be awesome.

Jones had a lot of things that did not help, such as, brick by brick, trash can, all his hollowing at practice etc. All of that was a distraction from just playing football. Just get your head in the game to win. The smoky gray is not a bad looking uniform but it's just not Tenn, We are the BIG ORANGE.
