Heupel hires SEC staff member to initial Tennessee coaching staff | RTI

“Breske just completed his fifth year at Missouri. This past season was his first in the role of director of recruiting for first-year head coach Eliah Drinkwitz. Breske spent the four years prior at Mizzou on the recruiting side, including the 2018-19 seasons as director of recruiting operations. He help the Tigers put together a 2019 recruiting signing class that ranked 31st nationally, a ranking that has been surpassed at Missouri only twice in the last 10 years.“

Not saying this guy isn't right guy to guide recruiting, but Mizz recruiting hasn't really been the benchmark of recruiting success. JH needs to hire who he believes is the right fit, but it's also about momentum with staff hires...we need some.

Compared to what Misswho had in there history, he's a homerun for us and 0 compliance issues.

Mizzou doesn't have the resources, facilities, in state talent, or proximity to other talent rich states that we do.

Top 31 class huh? Wow, that really sucks. I know we've had national recruiters of the year as of late. Maybe some of that was due to the Mc $, but 31? Why even mention that? Bummer

It is all about familiarity and who they feel comfortable with. There may be better options out there but if he has no idea how they will mesh down the road it will just be another bad hire. I can understand that when you come to a new place you need somebody you feel you know and can trust but with that being said when it comes to the DC and the staff on that side of the ball it is going to be interesting to see what he does.

Have you ever heard of this guy before today?

Surely, there is some basis for calling him a "homerun" other than Yay Tennessee.

But, I bet it's just "he now wears UT orange so he's awesome".

He set a high bar for Missouri. Or did very well there. You can only do what you can do at the school that hires you. He did well with what he was given so I’ll gladly give him support to continue it for us.

I agree, Missouri has never been the example of recruiting success, so be great at where you are at. If 31 is good for them than he did a great job. That doesn't mean this guy can't help us land top 10 classes. Support the staff or get out!

Good gracious, can we stop being negative before the ink dries. This doesn't mean he is suppose to be our ace recruiter, but in some type of admin/mgt role for our recruiting efforts. Probably means he is very organized, personal & knowledgeable of the processes and how to manage them in a compliant and efficient manner. The coaching hires are where the recruiting muscle should be.

How many schools do you know who their director of recruiting is? This is not a coaching position.

I don't, and figure most everyone else doesn't either.

So, anxiously awaiting how it's a "homerun" for Tennessee.

I would base it on what he has done at Missouri and he has done a great job at Missouri. It like calling James Franklin a great coach at Vandy. He beat a bunch of teams with losing records. Not a great big deal at most schools but because he did it at Vandy he got the PSU job.

I read his bio. If that constitutes a homerun, well, ummm, ok.

We wont know for a year at least. If we out-recruit our record and our recent historical norms, then yes, an argument can be made that it's a home run. Until then, it's a wait and see.

Mizzou isnt the "Show me" state, Tennessee football is in the ultimate show me state
