There is a possibility guys.

UGA and LSU to the Playoffs
Bama to Sugar
UF MAY get an at large to the Orange
If Auburn gets their ass handed to them in the Iron Bowl, they finish 4-4 in the SEC and 8-4 overall.
I see a scenario that puts UT in the Citrus Bowl and drops Auburn to the Outback, given that we will have one 6 of 7 and they finish on a losing streak.

Question:

Our SEC record is better than Auburn's in that scenario. Is that what matters? Or is it overall record?

I hate to lament, but right now it's impossible not to. If we had just taken care of business those first two games and we were about to finish at 9-3? There is no doubt that is where we would be headed and we would deserve it. This could have been an incredible season. Oh, well...

Overall record is what’s used by the bowls and the SEC offices.

I think that the Citrus bowl is a bit different in that they get to choose who they want of the SEC teams that are left after the playoffs and the major contracted bowls. So in the OP's scenario, they could theoretically choose UT even if we aren't ranked and Auburn is. With that being said, I would suspect that they would probably choose a ranked Auburn over an unranked Tennessee, but you never know. Either way, if we take care of business and beat Vandy, I do see a Florida bowl game destination in our future.

I agree... either our Vols or the team that does not know who they are (Tigers??? War Eagles??? Team from the Plains???) could get an invite to the Citrus Bowl. Both teams have multitudes of fans who would travel to the game... which of course = $$$ to the promoters, and that is the bottom line to them. However, SproketRocket, you are probably spot on when you surmised that we are destined for a trip to a somewhat sunny Florida for a bowl game this year rather than the snowy climes of the north. Hallelujah!!!

Hope 2 SEC teams make playoffs which should bump everyone up to better bowls. If only LSU makes it, we probably are headed to Charlotte, Nashville or Memphis. Outside chance to Jacksonville.

Now I've had to think that arrogant jack wagon's name. So thanks for that.

Sorry. But, to be honest....he's made the SEC interesting for many years. I'm tired of the usual ciphers. Maybe its just me.

UF is first in my demonology, though
