I'm sure its been discussed, but I've never seen it - but can anyone fill me in on what happened to Chuck Webb after he left Tennessee, and where he is now?

IIRC, he was drafted by the Packers (2nd Round) - but it seems like I've heard that he was a police officer in Ohio somewhere.

Anyone with details on Webb, or have another former player who they wonder what happened to them / where are they now?

I was listening to the three hour lunch on the zone a while back and they were talking about when he was being recruited and they said that Webb was a weird cat and no body has seen or heard from Webb in many years

This proves that the Packers can't coach em' up like Johnny could. Or was that Phil. :)

I think a knee injury slowed him some. I think he would have set a few records if had not been injured. Remember, back then, knee surgery has improved in the last 25 years.

I consider what happened to Webb against Pacific one of the great misfortunes to befall our program. I really like Tony Thompson but if he went for 1200+yds with that team Webb was looking at a Heismanesque season with two 1st rnd draft picks on the OL in McRae & Davis.

I was at the Pacific game. Busted his knee trying to make something out of a busted play. Sad to see.

Best UT running back ever, IMHO. The run against Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl was a thing of beauty.

I hope he is doing well.

Reggie & Chuck! What a dynamic duo. Remember when SEC office stonewalled UT's "Cobb-Webb" promotion? Things ain't changed much. Anyhow, I'd put Chuck right up there with H. Walker as the best runner I've seen.

Come on. Bo Jackson was the better runner. Herschel was just big, strong and fast as a cat. Bo was, big, strong, fast, shifty and quick to boot. CWebb, was decent sized, fast and quick as hell, but he wasn't running over people like Walker or Jackson.

Naaa...I've seen em both...Too many times lol...Herschel clearly the better of the two...To this day the best college RB I have ever seen with Earl Campbell a very close 2nd.

Just incase any younger ones haven't seen it. You will find the injury around the 6:20 mark on this video.

The worst part of that video is between 32 and 33 minutes. Tavio Henson, of all people, who replaced Webb and ran for 114 yards, says "God opened the door and made everything happen for me." Blasphemy!

Herschel over Bo Jackson? Wow. Bo was faster, quicker, shiftier and stronger.

I was at the game where he got hurt. As a kid I had never been to a game my uncle took me we were sitting right at the yard marker that he was injured. I never knew it was the Pacific game just remembered it as the game Chuck got hurt. Needless to say it took me many years as a kid to believe that it wasn't my fault for being at the game :)

Loved the oping drive of a #1 or #2 or so Auburn team with the Cobb-Webb tandem no passes just smash mouth football and drove it straight down their throat. Set the tone and tempo for the whole game.
