Not to induce mass panic, but Gabe Wright in a video dated yesterday said, "Cause Coach Smith kinda already told me he might be goin' to Florida and some people might be movin' around..." :eek:hmy:

Odd, that he would've told this to a recruit, but why the heck would he have made this up? Thoughts?

Actually I got in without one. It seemed to me he was talking about Wilcox rumors but I am not sure.

The video was free. I think the title of this thread is misleading. GW said he has been in contact with Chuck. He told Gabe that some coaches might go to Texas (Wilcox) ... that didn't happen , then he said some changes could take place with the staff. Not once do I hear him say anything about Chuck going to Florida. Infact, Gabe didn't even say Florida once in the video. Basically, it was Chuck telling him about changes that might take place ... and he wasn't talking about himself. BTW Gabe is all Vol IMO

I wouldn't take anything this guy says that serious but I also would not tell him any secrets. Wright loves interviews and the cameras, he loves telling people what they want to hear and certainly LOVES stirring the pot.

That interview is free. Tell me what you hear about Chuck Smith going to Florida. Gabe plays the game, but he said nothing about the title of this thread.

I think he was meaning that Wilcox could be going to Texas or Florida or wherever. He was probably saying that Wilcox could go alot of places and there might be some other coaching changes, but this is still Tennessee. I couldn't see Coach Smith going anywhere because he is Tennessee through and through.

With CJW being such a highly regarded DC (being considered for the Texas DC job), I think this might help to some small degree with recruiting. Recruits might think the CJW is a very good coach because major college schools want him and in return they want to play for him. I know it is not a major item but it sure doesn't hurt that other teams want him and he is staying with us.

Chuck Smith is not going to FL.... He is a Vol, and can't stand FL any more than we can!

Florida is hiring the Bama DL Coach Bo Davis to take over the same chores.

I know it sounds crazy, but are you telling me you don't hear him say what I quoted in my OP? I don't stir crap for no reason, just passing along what I heard in the vid.

I don't think Smith will go to UF, but the guy did say that coach Smith told him he may go to Florida at 2:36 .... I honestly don't think he will go, but that was a nice catch by the OP.. Thanks for the hook up...

Chuck Smith needs to close some damn recruits before we call him the second coming of Rodney Garner. He is mentioned frequently by these high profile guys, but right this minute, let's be honest...there isn't a lot to show for it.

I was referring to other major footballball programs showing interest in him. We already have him obviously so I cant compare us wanting him to come here. When you coach at Tennessee and other bigtime programs want you, you would be consider an elite coach at this time.

Ok, after going back and listening to it for the 789th time, I think I get the idea...

What I quoted is correct, however, prior to that, he is talking about Coach Wilcox. His responses as he is talking though is a bit choppy cause he is on the spot. It sounds like he is just beginning to talk about Coach Smith when he says, "Coach Smith..." but he after that, he finishes by saying he doesn't know about Coach Wilcox.

To cut all that short, it looks like he was talking about Wilcox the whole time... but who the heck knows when Wilcox and Florida was ever mentioned together :dunno:

I heard it plain as day and it actually makes sense to me. If Chuck and Wilcox don't get along, then what chances does Chuck have to move up in the organization? And lets not assume "Florida" means UF. There are plenty of quality schools down there that may be in need. It would also explain the rumors of Sirmon becoming a FT coach. He would take LBs, I'm sure, with LT moving to DL.
I hate to see the only true Vol leave, but what the man says is clear as crystal, so I'm not going to be surprised if it happens.
My biggest problem here is that, if true, we have a coach possibly leaving and telling recruits about it? :no:
