Tell me about him, you guys that are fortunate enough to go to practices. Is he that good and why did he not play much last year?

He's a monster. Would like to see him play this season before I call him Simeon Rice Jr. But he played some last year looked good while out there. But as we all know Fulmer and staff had their picks of who would start and play more.

I wouldn't put much stock in judging the DL going against our abortion of an OL yet. Lets wait until they get into a game against legit competition.

He had a nagging back injury. He didn't dress for one or two games.

He should have played a lot more however and this season everyone will be wondering why he didn't.

players can greatly improve from year to year, someone who was not even close to being ready to play as a sophomore can make a big steps towards being dominant over the winter and spring and be a much better players the next fall.

Also let have them play against some SEC people, against coaches who scheme against them etc

It is easy to be a rock star in practice.

Those guys are kids when they get there, you cant think of them as pro players.

Or maybe we had two solid DE's last year and Walker was rotated in a bit. He was too green to be a starter and we did have a senior who is now a potential first round pick. Make sense to yall?

I'd like to believe that we will have two All SEC on defense, and 2 All Americans on defense.

EB

Would be awesome

Look at Robert Ayers, he was a noboy until his Sr. yr. Now he is likely to be a top NFL draft choice.

Some people just need an extra year or two to develop. I love it when one of our nobody players have an All World Season.

The comments were made by the coaching staff. Since most them have pro background, I would think they could recognize exceptional talent when they see it. Thank you very much for your negative post.

Walker is a prime example why Fulmer is gone, he would never see the field in Fulmer's watch.

I don't get these ignorant statements. Walker saw the field last year when he was healthy. He had injury issues that kept him from playing more.

Actually, Chris' "injury issues" did not keep him from playing more. He missed a game and a half due to injury (back). He was playing behind Wes Brown and therefore saw limited action as a sophomore.

Do you feel that the former coaching staff held him back, Ms. Walker? That's what I was arguing against.

Honestly, I think Chris could have (should have) played more last year. However, I respected the coaching staff's decision as did Chris. He made the most of every opportunity as I felt that he played well when he was on the field. As a sophomore, converted defensive end, Chris did not expect to "split" the reps with Wes but he felt like he was at least ready to contribute more than he did. Looking back, Wes was injured also. He played practically the entire season injured. I just feel that Chris could have taken some of the pressure off Wes had they allowed him on the field more. Chris has been determined not to spend this coming season walking the sidelines. He started working on that when the season ended in disappointment last year. Think whatever you want about the way Chris is playing in spring practice. But coming from someone who has been watching this young man play football since he was 10, it's not a fluke. Realizing that September is only months away, Chirs is not going to sit around when spring drills are over. He plans to build on what he has learned and prepare for summer drills. Will he be All SEC? I don't know. Will he be an All American? I don't know that either. I do know that if he's not All SEC or an All American, it won't be because of a lack of effort. Chris is a student of the game. He will not rest. His goal is to stay focused on and off the field, get his degree and when his tenure as a student-athlete at UT is over he will have no regrets.

Then why make a topic asking if he's that good?

You can't compare him to an NFL All Pro after one spring practice where he dominates what seems to be a completely atrocious offensive line.

I'm not saying that he may not be great. He could be. I'm saying we can't really judge anything on our defensive line going up against our OL.
