..according to Drew Edwards. I'm not surprised about Walker but I didn't expect Hancock.

I think Hancock is #2 right now. IMO here's how it will look when we open the season:

1- Gerald Jones
2- Quintin Hancock
3/Slot WR- Nukeese Richardson
4- Brandon Warren
5- Denarius Moore
6- Austin Rogers

I can agree with that. I could also see flip-flopping Hancock and Warren here. Either way, I think we are going to be deep at WR.

I still think the best set of receivers would be Jones out on the left with Warren in the slot, and Richardson out on the right. You can for the deep threat on both sides, while still having the big, physical Warren going over the middle.

I'm surprised by Hancock as well, but I haven't been at practices. I just didn't know he had the skills--based on what little those of us limited primarily to the games have seen of anyone who plays offense at UT.

In any case, good for him.. and good for us!

Hancock is out tallest receiver...decent speed...has showed good hands before
If he is flourishing in the new system it will help the vols out tremendously.

I think people are underestimating Denarius Moore here. It always seems like he makes plays and its hard to make our QBs look good like he has.

Seems like people saw his star rating and keep writing him off.

I'm a big fan of Moore's, I was singing his praises going into last year but since I haven't been fortunate enough to attend practice for the past 3 weeks I'm just going by what I've read and heard the coaches say. Crazy, I know.

Moore has made some plays in the limited amount of time we have seen him. But apparently he is not as consistent on a day-to-day basis at practice. It must be that and/or a combination of him not being able to refine the other details about playing the position. Honestly, all we have seen him be successful at is running a straight line and catching a fly route. That is important and I am not saying we dont need that. I am just saying there is more to playing the position than that and that must be what keeps Moore from moving to the top of the WR depth chart.

As much as all the football experts on here hate to hear it, sounds like Austin Rogers has looked good enough that the new coaching staff has confidence in his abilities.

I was just about to post the same thing.

I find it hard to believe that Rogers will be ahead of Warren on the depth chart when the season starts, but if it happens it happens.

This system is not a #1, 2, 3 WR system. There is a W, X, and Z system.

W-Slot WR in 3WR set
X-Split End, usually the big possession WR
Z-Flanker, usually the quicker, playmaking WR.

Currently
X: Hancock/Moore/Warren/Paige
Z: Jones/Rogers/Campbell/Maples

I dont know the chart for the W but WR's from both positions are involved.
