perhaps it has something to with their offensive cordinator going to Georgia.

Maybe, but their declining trend seems to transcend individual players. It's an institutional decline.
I would agree with that. They aren't landing the type of impact players they dominated with for the better part of 15 years.

That is true Hat. Can you imagine if Casey Clausen had been interviewed like that last year?

Perhaps, but it's hard to tell. I still say that when good talent meets bad coaching, it makes the talent look mediocre.

I offer the following examples:

1. Oklahoma with Stoops. Losing records, and then all of the sudden they win a NC all of this talent appears.

2. Weis and Brady Quinn, Smardjjzjdfjjchchcja, etc.

3. Ainge and Meachem; WRs all.

4. Spurrier at FL.

Guys like Deion Sanders and Derrick Brooks would have been great players if they were coached by Gerry Di Nardo after a full frontal lobotomy. As to Stoops, look at the number of freshmen and sophomores that started for the 2000 National Champions. Stoops brought in a great deal of talent immediately.

You think Stoops is missing Mangino?

You think Stoops is missing Mangino?
Not as much as he misses his brother and Mike Leach. I would say that Mangino was better than the Chuck Long/Kevin Wilson combination that succeeded him. However, I'm not sure that there is a coordinator in the company that could do much with Paul Thompson at QB.

First of all Spurrier owes Stoops. Stoops put the finishing touches on that NC team in Florida. Second you have to credit stoops for having the guts to hire a bonified offensive genius in Mike Leach when both stars were on the rise. That is the mark of an incredible football coach.

The college game is going to miss Stoops badly after this year.
