I heard on the radio he may have some interest and may have been contacted. If so he definitely moves to number 1 on the coaching list. Lets hope he is tired of the West Coast and lack of publicity.

He has a special needs child and that’s why he wanted to stay in the Northwest. It was something to do with its care, don’t remember what exactly. I would be shocked but happy.

reeks of a guy that may be seeking a raise/extension.

that said, if you can get him...get him.

FWIW it has been stated on this board that those medical needs are no longer in the picture.

True. The kid is older now and they say he may be open to moving from the PNW.

Have you seen the stuff he said about the start times and lack of respect?

He could be using us but I think he wants a higher profile program.

I know his kid is older now and like in his 20's, but he is still a special needs. Not sure how much that plays into where he wants to be anymore, but it would be the best hire we could possibly make IMO.

Actually not true anymore. See below. Snip it from the article.

Why the time was finally right for Chris Petersen to leave Boise State for Washington

His older son Jack is now in college. His younger son Sam, whose health issues as a small boy helped keep Petersen in Boise, not only fully recovered, but will start high school next year. It's a good time to make the transition.

He is a walk off grand slam hire that is the only candidate I would put over Gruden. One of my favorite coaches. JAV did say we had some contact with him. Perhaps he wants to be at a pace that takes football more seriously

He'll stay at Washington as long as they'll have him. He's a west coast guy, and the university has already extended his contract through 2023.

yes, but ask yourself, is he making those statements because it is a detriment to Chris Peterson, or because it's a detriment to WAshington's program?

if it's the former, then dude is greedy and selfish as hell. i don't think that's the case. i think it's the latter.

that said, if he has real ambitions, and sees that now being on the west coast is an obstacle for anyone not named Oregon, USCw, or Stanford, then he may be willing take his toys south.

who knows.

again, if you have chance to get him...get him.

Its a dream hire for sure. I hope he sees what you said about the obstacles being too much. I do think he said those things for the benefit of the school. I hope he will see that won't change, and he doesn't have the ceiling here that Washington does.

So, special needs kids can't be cared for in the South?

Hurry, lets get Vanderbilt and St.Jude on the phone. They need to know this

Both Petersen and Gruden would be grand slams. He’s done it at two programs now who were not much before he got there.

Don’t believe anything you hear and only half of what you hear!
But yeah would be in the top 3 of “wanted “

Best coach in the country. Does more with less better than anyone. He has been my number 1 since 2012. But still don't think it happens. Here's to hoping I am wrong.

I won't believe anything until the guy is announced. Just trying to spread a little hope for the Vol faithful. Petersen would be a home run.
