18. Tennessee fans were relieved that Kiffin didn't get up on the podium Thursday and say, "I'll have to see the film." It's a phrase former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer recited in his sleep.

14. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier hinted around a couple of months ago that Kiffin might be in violation of NCAA rules by calling recruits before taking his certification test. Well, Kiffin had already taken the test and shot back that he got 39 out of 40 right. We now know which question he missed.

8. Meyer will do everything in his power to kick Kiffin and the Vols' rear ends at the Swamp next Sept. 19.

YEP.

-and-
9. Meyer was already going to try and kick Kiffin and the Vols' rear ends before Kiffin popped off.

well-written, humorous and spot on. He should give lessons to the KNS

20, 21, and 22 are what its all about.

Either he can get it done, in which case he can get all the reprimands anyone cares to throw at him, or he can't get it done in which case he'll be a laughing stock footnote.

Listening to local radio here, commentators were discussing a) how happy UT fans are that they've finally got someone with a pulse; and b) that Al Davis might have been right after all.

I think A is definitely part of the equation.

I think anybody saying B completely missed the point of yesterday's remarks.

Unfortunately after ESPN broke the Cable story last week, it is hard to argue in favor of the Raider's organization.

And yes, it is nice to have a coach with a pulse again.

I think everybody that isn't a UT fan hopes Al Davis was right after all; just like everybody that is a UT fan hopes Al's track record of firing coaches and them going on to be successful continues.

When exactly is the last time that Al Davis was right about anything?

I go with Warren Sapp's opinion on Davis.

How many national titles did Meyer or his staff have when they took over?

How many does Kiffin and his staff have at this point?

B is completely irrelevant to you and me and our game. But for sportscasters, Kiffin is a gold mine. First, he gets into a public pissing match with one of professional football's most bizarre people. Then, he gets a new job and gets into a pissing match with the coach of the reigning national champions and the legaue front office.

ESPN, CNN, Sports Illustrated, all newspapers in Tennessee and Florida, and CBS all need to send Lane Kiffin a very expensive gift basket this December.
