Chris Low on Swain Event

As long as you dont expect to win it you will do fine here.

We are Tn, we win natty's every 50 years. My point, we can win one with Jones but it may not be tomorrow. I'm good being in the hunt. Unless we hire a saban, Meyer then we arent guaranteed success on a national championship level. Btw, those guys aren't coming here as we are a good program but not a great program. We have 2 nc in our history. So let's be realistic.

I've thought this same thing for awhile. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he bolts at the end of this season.

To where? And give up a buyout that pays more than he would make at a mid-major?

So you start with Jones can win a NC and you finish with "lets be realistic"?

Eventually brother. I said eventually and he gives us a chance because we are competitive. Think my man.

Truth hurts I get that. Long time realistic fan here. I want a coach that makes us relevant and he's done that. If we go to seccg then i really think he can keep us relevant. Let's go Arky.

He would have to downgrade to do so at current standing because of his choke fest last weekend and a lot of the rumor messes he has dealt with under his watch like the lawsuit, Bowles and crowder accusation then losing two 5 stars mid season. Not exactly the type of hire that would excite a big fan base similar to ours. I know we would flip out with a hire like that. He needed to win out and go to SEC East and pull upset for a bigger jobs

I agree with you. I think he might be willing to do that.

I understand the money aspect of it all. But, I don't think Butch will be anywhere close to fired at the end of this season, so the buyout really is irrelevant. I just don't know that this fishbowl is exactly what Butch wants to sign up for long term, especially when you pile on the scrutiny of the Title IX suit from this past offseason.

So, I think if he could get a job that pays somewhat close to what he makes now (like, say, at Purdue), he might do it. It is just a thought I've had. Time will tell.

Great post. It would be epic if Cut and Chavis joined forces in Knoxville again.

So you want the head coach who's team currently has a losing record (with losses to Wake and Northwestern) and the D coordinator that allowed 700 yards to a DeBord coached offense? (Love Cut and Chavis by the way, just playing Devil's Advocate.)

Chris Low with ESPN says if Tennessee doesn't win out Butch and team has serious issues.

I think if Tennessee loses to Vandy or Kentucky, Butch could possibly be job hunting.

What say you Volnation? Would Tennessee move on with a loss, or would he be given another year?

What if UT loses both games (Vandy and KY)?
ALL I know is that negative scheiss like this hurts the team. Recruits will not come here if they think the coaching situation is not settled. It is a free country and if all you jerks like hurting the team - have at it. This is why top drawer coaches wont come here. You guys are helping Fla and Bama and LSU and they dont need any help. Smarten up.

CBJ has to be given time to make the staff changes that he needs to make. I think part of our problem was he worked the team harder last year trying to get on top of the mountain, and this year we was just trying to stay on top of the mountain and not get anyone hurt. I think we got soft from not going hard in practice, might have led to some of the injuries. Regardless he has to figure out what we are doing wrong in the Strength and Conditioning program to have so many injuries and stop the stupid penalties. No one knows if he will make or not, but he has done enough to deserve this chance.

Butch will not be fire this year, no matter what else happens. There is no one in place to hire the next coach and I don't think we can wait on a chancellor and athletic director to be hired before hiring a new football coach. There is no circumstance I can envision where he is fired, outside of felonies.

I do think he would go on notice that Atlanta would be the requirement next year if he lost additional games this year. That could be communicated next year once new bosses are in place

Jack, valid concern but there is no way in hell to hide from recruits when a coaching staff is on the hot seat. Its just not possible

coaches don't like to have "fired" on their resume. If he felt it was going to be difficult to get this straightened out I could see him floating his name out there. Check and see if someone nibbled. If they did and he thought it would work would not surprise me to see him pursue.

If Butch don't win the east by 2018 he gone. Maybe if he don't win by next year. We all realize that

Even if he wins out, Butch still has serious issues...with that being said, he still has another year or two
