says no real significant adjustments can be made to make the defense better. maybe play Ben Martin more but otherwise the defense is what it is. Chris says there are no NFL caliber defensive lineman.

Chris says so far as recruiting defensive linemen, there have been bad evaluations. Talks about not taking Willis as prime example of screw ups.

We gonna give up a lot of points this year. I don't care how good or bad your LBs and DBs are, if you don't have talent up front, you are screwed.

He does realize Willis was/is not a d-lineman?
possible that he was talking defensive players generally. basically, i have never heard the VQ guys do anything other than tow the party line. I'm a bit surprised.

Chris says the Vols probably are not capable of playing more wide open than they did on Saturday. He says it is the staff's fault for not putting the gamebreakers on the field.

At this point, how can anyone in the media tow the line and maintain any credibility.

Finding fault in the staff right now is way too easy.

The one DL that took two years off to go on a mission really screwed up his career. He was a star before he left and now he is average at best.

Wow. I just can't ever root for the Vols to lose ANY game. But I would hate to know that another mediocre season will allow him to survive.

He really wasn't that big of a star. I don't know why everyone expected him to come in and tear things up.

Bad DL evaluations has probably a lot to do with it. On the other hand, I believe that a very conservative defensive approach from Chavis and an offense with ZERO life, has more to do with it.

We all saw what a difference coaching makes when Boise St. beat Oklahoma last year.

Some of us saw this coming way before this past Saturday. I lost faith after we lost to Clemson in the Peach/Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

The blowout loss to Maryland the year before that was when I first started seriously worrying about what had gone wrong with the program.

Chris closed by predicting that if UTK does not beat UGA it will be hard for Phil to stay on.

I believe Hyams said almost exactly the same thing over the weekend, and I concur with them. Personally, If this team doesn't go at least 3-1 against GA, AL, Ark & SC it might just be a done deal. Oh, and that loss (if there is one) had better look good too. If, say, McFadden and Jones put up 300 yds rushing and we lose by 2 touchdowns...you get the idea.
