Chris Lofton... NBA draft this year?

Are you asking or stating?

I haven't heard or read anything about him leaving early, and it would surprise me if that happened.

I am not really confident about his pro career......

he will be converted to a PG because of his height, but I know he wil not be our PG here at UT. Also, the pro career is extremely tough for shooters who is less than 6'5 or 6'6. The last exemple is JJ Redick, 30-pt per game in college, but now a 4th-string SG in Magics...
Also, Lofton's career may highly depend of his first NBA team. He will be better off in a team with a good center...
BUt anyway, good luck to him

I really hope Chris Lofton doesnt go. He is a very talented player, but I agree. He definately needs his last year in college. I hope he gets picked up in the NBA by a good team. Not a team like Charlotte. Id love to see the Wizards get him

Much to your chagrin TVA, I believe there is somewhere in the neighborhood of a 100% chance that Lofton plays for UT next season.

If he thinks its a good idea to give up his senior year to become a FA signee then I guess we might have to worry about this. But, as long as he chooses that he would like to actually get drafted then he comes out then we can stop holding our breath. I think he is as amazing as the next UT fan but seriously we have absolutely nothing to worry about in terms of leaving early. He would not even get drafted at this point, or at least he would be drafted very low.

No way he leaves early for the NBA.

If you're not drafted in the first round, you don't get a guaranteed contract. He's not a first-round prospect right now.

Why pass up a year of scholarship basketball, in which you may break school and conference records and possibly win conference and national awards, to sign a free agent deal with no guaranteed money? Lofton will be back.

Of course, this thread was started by the same guy who suggested that Pat Summitt and Coach K get a "talking to" from their ADs at the end of the season.

lets all hope and pray that his parents give him the "getting a college education is the most important thing" talk :crossfingers:

I would not be surprised to see Lofton get overlooked by the NBA for the same reasons he was overlooked by the NCAA and not get drafted next year. In true Lofton form, he would then get signed as a free agent and be starting by December.

It's getting kind of hard to even look at TVA's threads anymore, isn't it?

I imagine he'll be back for his senior year. His chances of making in the NBA at all are pretty slim and right now he's not on their radar at all. If he waits, he might be drafted and, although he lacks the size or speed or bulk to really have much of a chance, if he waits and does get drafted after next year at least they'll give him a fair shot at it.

...he's not on their radar at all...although he lacks the size or speed or bulk to really have much of a chance...

I'm very sure NBA scouts are aware of a GUARD that shoots 45% (not layups, jumpshots) in the best conference in America. Defense doesn't exist in the NBA. I don't care if he is six foot, NBA players get open looks at threes ALL THE TIME, and as the Gators know, he hits them from NBA range already. As for his speed, I disagree as well. He's pretty quick, and on one of the many fast breaks versus UF, he slowed down and faked a 3 pointer simply with a head fake, then RACED pass Corey Brewer for a wide open layup. The same Corey Brewer that ESPN called a top 10 pick in next years draft, at least before Chris told him to get on the bus.
