Why not this guy?? If we are going to go 3rd tier, so to speak, why not give this guy a chance?? I think it was GAVol that was really high on this guy for our OC. He's almost just as proven as Kelly. The only difference between him and Kelly is that Kelly has gotten the chance. Hatcher's a southern guy as well.

he's a fine coach. i followed him a little while he was at Valdosta State. he has a great record, and a great mindset for football. he's really young. has some limited SEC experience (coached at UK for a year...qb's i think) and if i'm not mistaken, he was a QB for Valdosta State. I'd give him a shot, although it would kill my older brother...he's a Georgia Southern grad

Chris Hatcher will be a head coach in DI one day. No doubt about it. All he does is win. He was on staff with Mumme and Leach at UK.

Yeah him rebuilding a putrid Cincy football program that plays in a BCS conference and has them on the verge of a BCS bowl this year is very comparable to Hatcher's career.

I said that Kelly has gotten the shot, I guess I should have included the fact that Kelly has done well so that way you wouldn't think that I was comparing their career's now to each other. I was comparing their career's to each other's while at a lower tier school. Obviously what Kelly is doing now is better than what Hatcher is doing, but like I said Kelly has gotten the chance to prove himself.

Correct me if I am wrong Lex, but Hatcher's offense and Leach's are very similar correct?? Both learned under Mumme and both teach similar things to what he taught while at KY right??

Yes, both run similar versions of the spread. At Ga Southern Hatcher has had to be much more "adaptable" with his system.

Hatcher's offense is Leach's offense. Hatcher played under Leach at Valdosta State and coached under him at KY. Leach becomes more interesting to me as a package deal with Hatcher.

My feelings are, if your going to push out a guy like Fulmer with 150 wins regardless of the slide we have been on, you don't hire a coach from Division 1AA school. Especially with all the money Hammy has available.

Agreed.

That's why I'm not high on Leach either.

Currently though, we aren't in position to hire a big name. I just find it increasingly difficult as the days go by and the radio is silent that we will have any luck hiring a big name. This is all about rebuilding as well, so let's get someone to rebuild it.

Notre Dame and Michigan managed to make big hires after sliding. So did Alabama. We're in a better position than any of the other schools looking to fill a vacancy.

Not really. Almost all the candidates that we are looking at could use this opening as leverage to get raises. It happens yes, but almost all the candidates we are looking at are having successful seasons and it looks like that could help them stay put. Notre Dame/Charlie Weis hasn't lived up to that hire and Michigan/RR has my prayers and my sympathy.

hatcher is a great coach, and a great individual. I had the pleasure to go on a hunting trip with him a year ago. he is rebuilding the GSU program from where brian van doushe bag messed it up. i would hate to see him leave GSU till after hes got a few national championships under his belt.

What the hell are you talking about?

All the big names we are going after are currently employed and in the middle of league championship races. What the hell are they supposed to do other than flat out deny it?

That's true of every job all the time. I'm not interested in how Weis and Rodriguez have done, I'm saying they were enormous hires that declining schools managed to get.

You're crazy.

Patience. No coach is going to come out and say, "Yeah I'm thinking about Tennessee" during the season
