Is there any info if Tennessee has atleast reached out just to see if he would be interested. John Gruden’s great but I just don’t believe he’ll come here until it actually happens.

Better hurry. Kelly to Florida may be hours away...

It’s actually a good question. If he ends up at Florida was it simply because they were first or did he have options.

I know it's a good question, I just haven't seen anything that tells me Tennessee has looked at him. I hope they do. I hope they are contacting all the top canidates.

He did say that the coach would be finishing the year out with their team. I’m thinking Scott Frost might be their guy. It could be him or Chip but we shall see.

Spurrier did say that, but that was last week when I think Scott Frost was probably the leader out of the gate. The last few days, the momentum seems to have really swung towards Kelly. Today, Spurrier tweeted “I am not recommending anyone for the job. We all have complete confidence that Scott Stricklin will make the best choice for our school - and we will support his decision 100 percent.”

And for what it’s worth, I’d be thrilled with Scott Frost too. He and Kelly have always been 1 and 1a to me.

Frost is a younger less egotistic version of Kelly. I'd rather have him than Gruden or Kelly.

Never heard of @gatorscentral but I do follow Steve Spurrier’s official twitter account. Here’s the quote:

@stevespurrierUF - I am not recommending anyone for the job. We all have complete confidence that Scott Stricklin will make the best choice for our school - and we will support his decision 100 percent.

Which part of my post are you disputing, specifically?

I love Frost. But you can flip it around and say Frost is a less experienced, less proven, less confident, more risky version of Chip Kelly.

Do you think Kelly and Spurrie can get along long term?

True but as far as young coaches go Frost is as close to a sure thing as you'll find. If we both pass on him something tells me will we'll come to regret it. Watch him end up in Arkansas or TAMU lol.

Spurrier isn’t the overbearing presence some seem to think. He’s not a guy who’ll look over your shoulder and offer unsolicited advice. Word is he approached Nussmeier and Mac twice to offer “suggestions” for the offense. Nuss was more receptive than Mac. I seriously doubt that Chip Kelly will clearly need offensive advice in the manner Mac’s teams needed it where Florida literally couldn’t even gain first downs. Florida has like, 6 TD passes on the season right now. Spurrier’s teams used to get that in a half. Spurrier’s at the stage where he just wants the Gators to be good and he wants to sit back and enjoy watching it. I see no issues developing between Kelly and Spurrier.

Frost at TAM could be a problem for all of us, for sure. Only hesitation about him would be that UCF does NOT offer the pressure cooker environment of a UF, UT or TAM. While he’s been around the game his whole life, sometimes you just don’t realize just how deep the water is before you jump in. As good as UCF is this year, the team is playing in front of about 28,000 fans a game. The pressure is nothing right now compared to the SEC.
