Chicago Bears waive QB Tyler Bray

If Bray would have stayed away from his thuggish antics and was more focused on football at UT, he could have been up there with Manning, Martin, and Halloway as one of the best QBs ever to come out of the program.

He had all the potential in the World, he had the physical tools for sure. But he didn't take it seriously mentally. He was a rich California kid coddled by rich parents that thought he could have it all handed to him and thought that he had all the answers in life. NFL teams picked up on that and that is why he went undrafted when he could have been taken in the first round if he had his s*** together.

I was wondering how do you know this.

And yet here we are. If he had as much talent as everybody on here says he does, then he should be doing a little better than 3rd string or practice squad.
They will take up for him no matter what. Then use the he made "X" amount so they don't have to admit he is a career practice squad player. If another UT qb would be that didn't look like him would have quit against UK, they would be calling it most disgraceful event in UT football history. Look at how they treat Tee. That is why his son went to Clemson.

Wait....

You think people take up for Bray because he's a white quarterback?

I don't think the fact that he's white is why the people in this thread stick up for him. Probably has more to do with the fact that they have a hard time admitting former UT players in the NFL aren't good enough to keep their spot. And I've seen plenty on here hate on Bray for his performance during that UK game, myself included. And for the record, I think most Vol fans would have loved to seen Tee come back and coach at UT in some capacity. His son going to Clemson probably had more to do with the fact that they're about to play for their second national title in 3 years and UT.....isn't.

Also, Tee said no to coming back home to coach. Bray had his moments of weakness, for sure, but his swagger and that offense was a fun freakin ride.

I hate Bray didn't live up to potential, but what I really hate is we didn't have a defense to go with loco qb.

Practice squad is a good gig, if you are interested in money but if your desire is to be a game day player, then practice squad is not good
Obviously, he has a skill set but not good enough to make 53 man roster
Why would Andy Reid sign him, then 2 years later draft Murray from UGA?
If you habe the desire to be a game day player but not the ability, game day squad is still a great career. Beats the hell out of sales and most other professions.

And though I like TB alot, he ain't making that kind of money in too many other gigs.

So I would say he has done fantastic for himself and should be proud of his accomplishments. He for certain has done what few are able to do, make an NFL roster multiple years.

Bray didn't quit in the UK game. He took some shots and was still scrambling for first downs late in the game. You could make an argument about some other players and coaches, but not Bray.

Bray had the best arm since Peyton and maybe better.

The fact he is not in a two deep or starting has everything to do with his mindset or understanding the playbook.

Guy could spin the ball.

There was a rumor that after the game he made the comment, "Who wants to go to a s***** bowl game anyway?" Or something along those lines. I think that's where the narrative came from, but I think if the rumor is true, it was probably just a way to cope with being the first starting quarterback to lose to Kentucky in 26 years.
