Was just reading some Patriots related stuff and came across some cool tidbits on our guy CP, figured I'd share as it's a slow week on the board before Gators. Main takeaway was it at least seems like he would have come back for his senior year (would have been Butch's first season) if the academics aligned. Full article on espn boston.
Cordarrelle Patterson's philosophy: 'You have to smile it out'
Going to Tennessee for one season: "Tennessee! First game of the season, Kickoff Classic, Chick-fil-A game. I went in and had two touchdowns and 200-300 all-purpose yards. It was the first time you're hearing the 'Rocky Top' song played, the first time the fans fell in love. I never can forget that moment."
First-round pick of the Vikings in 2013 (No. 29 overall): "I really didn't know what was happening. I was going to stay another year, but probably had to leave because I don't think my grades were very good. Teams tell you when you visit, ‘We're going to draft you this pick -- 5, 10, 25, 30.' A lot of teams went by and we were sitting there at the 27th, 28th pick coming up, and I was like, ‘I'm ready to go.' I was in the greenroom [at the NFL draft] and walked to the bathroom. It was stressful, and coming out of the bathroom, the phone rings and it was [general manager] Rick Spielman. That's when my whole life changed again."
Personal opinion, he was the most electric player I've seen on the offensive side of the ball at Tennessee in atleast a decade.. even for just one season. Kamara is the only guy that comes close. Met him once briefly on campus too, seemed like a super nice guy.
It's also been pretty cool to see him gain the trust of Tom Brady so quickly. At a time when the WR core in NE has been bare, he had an opportunity and so far has done a solid job on offense & specials.
Have a good weekend board!
