Okay, time to upgrade the man cave. I'm looking for a 6" or so checkerboard paper to line the top of the garage wall. My idea is to have the orange & white checkerboard around the top of the garage wall, and then all my "Vol Stuff" on the walls of the garage below it.

Can't find it. Hep me.

Go Vols.

If custom wallpaper gets too expensive you could just tape it off and paint it. It's what I would do. Do the entire area in white first and then you'd only have to tape once.

If you have a friend or relative in Knoxville, they could check the local Home Depot. They might just have it in the wall coverings department.

While that sounds like a great idea, my mom did that for my room when I was younger and it took her about two weeks to finish and correct any paint that leaked under the tape or uneven lines. I will say this though, if done right it will look better than any wallpaper border you could put up.

On a side note my room was sick! 6 walls alternating orange and white with an approximately 10" 2 row checkerboard. [\shameless plug of my mom's work]

If you use good blue tape and remove the tape before the paint gets dry it's supposed to work better. At the end of the day it'd be something to be proud of.

Best way to get a crisp line with zero chance of paint getting under tape is to apply a thin smear of painters caulk where the taped 'line' should go.

Let it dry and paint over it.

they also have orange and white square stickers, I think either 6" or 12". my bro-in-law has them in his garage.

edit: it was Lowe's, and they aren't UT specific, just orange & white square stickers.

Mods, please forgive me for posting this here, but I know every VN'er looks here, and I need help, so.....

I would like to line the top of the walls in the "Man Cave" with checkboard wall border. I cannot find it online, but...like Homer Simpson...sometimes I have trouble finding the "any" key, so cut me some slack.

Anyhow...checkerboard wall border for the Man Cave. 4 inch, 6 inch...whatever.

Just to make it worth your while, if you submit the winning suggestion, I will name my next goldfish after you.

'course....gotta buy a tank first.

Go Vols.

You might want to try contacting a Home Depot in Knoxville. They used to keep a lot of the "Vol Orange" paint on hand, but not sure about the border.

Check this out....

Go to your local sign shop, and have them design it for you. Then, have them come in and install it for you. It might cost you $300 or less, but it will be worth it for the professional look it will have. Most of your sign shops these days have excellent equipment to do this. Even installing it on some type of wood first, then liquid nailing it up would be ideal.

If you tape it and paint, paint the area white. Tape off what you want to keep white and then paint over everything again with white. That will seal any gaps in the which cause leaks in the paint. After it dries, you can paint the orange and remove the tape before completely dry to get crisp lines.
